Used Shoes (eBay, etc.)

What do you think of buying used shoes on eBay or in nicer second-hand shops? I've found some nice Allen Edmonds on eBay for about $150. That seems like a lot to pay for used shoes, but if they're in very nice condition and less than half of what they cost new, I think it might be worth it. On the other hand, shoes get broken in to somebody's foot in a way that, a dress shirt or tie would not. What do you think -- are second-hand shoes worth it? If they're not worth it at $150, might they be worth it if I can find a less expensive pair (even if they're in worse condition)?

If you would like to know the basic opinions on any subject including used shoes, the search function helps. There have been a few interesting discussions on the subject. On a cautionary note, you may want to read this post by DWFII about the problems with used shoes; he is probably the knowledgeable person on this forum when it comes to shoes and boots.

I am not sure how much you know about shoe construction, but it may also help you to read this "Shoes Explained" thread.
