Or the tailor, if there is one-- they will do a much better job than any dry-cleaner.

Allegedly, Huntsman used to take their clients' suits up to Scotland to bathe them in a river rather than dry-clean them in London, so water won't be a problem all on its own unless the construction was otherwise reaching its limit.

Yes, the issue is whether the construction has reached its limit. That said, as just noted, I was looking to replace the jacket anyway, so the storm provided an excuse to think about cloth in advance of a meeting with Steed in July (hopefully).

No doubt it can be pressed though the odd rippling was of concern...I expected it to bounce back a bit better. It's a RTW Caruso, and while I can feel the canvas, I'm not sure about the construction. I will take it to the tailor when I have a chance.

Still: I'm actually trying to find an "excuse" to commission a new blazer...so recs on cloth?
I think we all knew what you really meant :cool2:

Check out Fox's Hopsacks? Pretty nice stuff I think.

I'm intrigued by the new(ish) Fox hopsacks. Also, the Mock Leno/Lino from the Fresco and Finmeresco books, if you don't want to wait around for the next Brisa or Mistral at LL.

I have recently commissioned a new blazer in Finmeresco Mock Leno and the fist fitting is sometime in the next week or two. I'll try and get a picture.

I just gave the go ahead on a blazer suit from the Fresco III book in mid-brown (510263) and it was a very hard choice. There is a LOT of good in that book and as noted, the mock lino looks particularly promising for a navy jacket.

^ Yep. Perfect navy sport coat fabric. But if one wanted something lighter than navy, the other Caccioppoli or Drapers are both nice.

To Wigglr and WillingtoLearn, what kind of weave are your caccioppoli fabrics supposed to be? I am looking for a blue suit in caccioppoli fabric for a summer suit and thought their "travel suits", which is their version of fresco I guess, were too see through for me and so one of the alternatives my tailor recommended was 360268 (lighter) or 360269 (very dark). I attached a picture of them. I couldn't decide because I can't visualize what shade of blue it will actually look like. Any idea if 370166/370167 colors are supposed to be the same colors as the corresponding 360266/360167 fabrics? This would mean 360268 is darker than both of your fabric swatches. Maybe I should just use your fabric instead if it's suitable for summer.

W.Bill Phoenix range is a winter jacketing. I wouldn't recommend it for spring/summer. At least, not for most regions.

The Drapers and Caccioppoli cloths posted by wigglr are jacketings (afaik made by VBC, hopsack, very open weave, see-through). Definitely not to be made into trousers.
