You look like a triad boss in a movie who just ordered a hit.
Or the final boss in a street fighter game...

I'm looking to order a few three-season sportcoats this spring. Wool-silk-linen is appealing, as is wool, provided it's high twist or otherwise wrinkle resistant.

I don't need the lightest weight options, necessarily. I like cloths with nice body and drape, even if they wind up wearing a bit warmer. Honestly, once the humid 85+ Fahrenheit weather arrives, I rarely wear tailoring.

What are your favorite books that meet this criteria? Thank you gentlemen.

And now, for the tweed lovers, here is my final commission for this fall/winter: an Abraham Moon houndstooth. I went with besom pockets on this one because all of my tweeds have patch pockets. I was inspired by a few Instagram posts of country tweeds that had besom pockets. It looks neat, IMO.

I had planned to do besom pockets with a different Moon tweed, but the orders got a bit mixed up, and that one had patch pockets.

In addition to what others have suggested, you can also check out H&S Airesco bunch.

Curious if anyone has access to Holland & Sherry books in person and would be willing to share some photos of these two fabrics from the Royal Mile 1916 HS2331A collection?

Hi, some tailors scroll through fabric bunches on Youtube.
E.g. he Royal Mile. Your two fabrics are shown at 2.38-2.46

Hope this helps a little.

Any recommendations for a heavy, solid navy wool overcoat fabric, preferably >= 25 oz? It is for a double breasted ulster coat.

Also: how much fabric do you think I need? I am a size EU50 and 186 cm. Making it below-the-knees, so I guess 118-120 back length. 3.5 m? Or more?

Thanks!

You might ask your tailor to show you coatings from English mill Mallalieus of Delph. They have a rather unique navy herringbone coating, "Elysian" that has a pleasant hand, an interesting texture, but is rather resistant to rain and abrasion. I have an old Raglan from the 1950's in this fabric that I have given very heavy wear and it is still going strong. An example of it made up in a duffel coat can be seen here.

Any recommendations for a similar cloth to that of Loro Pianas pecora nera houndstooth?

Best,

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
