My office's dress policy is 'dress appropriately.' It's rather hard to be noticed in my office.

I’d say it’s interesting more than amusing, similar to your avoidance of db suits - I remember us having this conversation and you mentioning you didn’t like db suits in general. It’s always amusing to see people’s biases play out when plotting their commissions.
A seersucker suit or jacket has next to no presence within “frat bro” world, SB or otherwise. That uniform in a CM context is largely comprised of a blazer and chinos or khaki trousers.
That being said, a DB in traditional blue/white seersucker, is at a minimum a quirky choice that would have a very limited use case and would certainly paint one as a dandy or enthusiast and certainly isn’t suitable for the office or important meetings.
Ultimately, I enjoy wearing a navy suit. I think it just looks supremely elegant when cut right. It allows the silhouette to speak for itself. (If you want a gray or charcoal, that’s fine too, I just prefer navy.)Unless im meeting clients or government officials I'm usually in sports coat, linen field shirt/sweater with jeans/odd trousers paired with a neckerchief.
Can’t really tell whether it’s a brown or grey base from your picture, but if it’s grey, this is very close:Can anyone recommend a fabric with a colour/pattern similar to the attached pic? Preferably in a wool/silk/linen mix….? And what would you call this pattern?
Haha I went through my 20 navy suit phase initially where I first started my journey before ending up where I am now!Ultimately, I enjoy wearing a navy suit. And I was just sharing my opinion on what looks right. But, by all means, dont let me tell you otherwise. I’ve gone through many phases but ultimately, for business, keep it simple: navy socks, navy suit, black oxfords, white or light blue shirt and some variation on a navy tie w/ a white pocket square. If you want to be adventurous, do something with the square.
I remember there was a scene in the Liverano documentary about having blue suits. I didn’t understand it then, but I do now.
Oh. I’ve been where you are. You wouldn’t find me in another but trousers and a cashmere jacket before. But now, I just prefer elegance.Haha I went through my 20 navy suit phase initially where I first started my journey before ending up where I am now!
I have been collection alot of the 80s Armani styled ties if I wanted to be adventurous with my navy suit, with Pat Riley being the inspiration.
I veer towards elegance these days as well...and I did not see what you said as discouragement! And I get it re fraternity brothers...I hate that look and refuse to dress in a way which associates me with that as wellOh. I’ve been where you are. My point was don’t let me discourage you from a single breasted seersucker. It’s just not for me - reminds me of fraternity brothers. Tbh, I’m not sure I’d get one, except that I feel obligated because as a southern courtroom litigator / attorney - an un-disheveled one, if you will.
