I don't know that that's really a reddit thing...just seems like reddit is the usual place these days where people gather and collaborate on figuring something like that out.

Weird as **** though.

sums up the things they have found in this video so far.

Probably either a viral marketing thing, or some weird crap put together by a bored person to **** with people...but either way it seems crazy how much stuff is buried in this thing. Neat puzzle if you have the knowledge to try and solve it.

Not trying to start concherversy here or anything just expressing the confusion what is in my mente: I don't get the appeal of Sleater-Kinney at all. I remember back in the day people would talk about them in tones of awe such as like they was The Beatles or Led Zeppelin or L.A. Guns or something.

Right. The sort of place where dorks gather to subject each other to their weird theories about some annoying video someone threw up on the internet. I stand by my earlier statement.

Maybe the video gets more interesting as it goes on. The audio was so annoying I stopped watching after ten seconds or so.

I more or less get your point about it being a puzzle. But so is Finnegan's Wake. That doesn't make it any less unreadable.

Reddit is kind of interesting because it's so big that there are many different communities with pretty disparate demographics. There's the dorks who discuss weird videos, sure, but there are all kinds of other groups that barely overlap with the dorks.

Their men's fashion sub isn't half bad. Gets a lot of traffic.

Come on, dude. Virtual communities -- what could possibly be lamer than that?

This is the kind of thing I would expect from the footages in William Gibson's book, Pattern Recognition.

I thought you might enjoy this.

Last time I caught up on it apparently someone has pulled some posts as there's the predictable heat starting to happen. Odd how it was shot in Poland.

Nah, the video is annoying and slightly creepy. But that's because the sound wasn't meant to be listened to. It was meant to be viewed in a spectrum analyzer, at which time you find out that there were actually pictures hidden in the soundwaves (hence why they sound like ****).

Not the first time there has been a big collaborative puzzle/scavenger hunt for something like this on the internet. When Lost was big, there were a few similar deals that turned out to really be viral marketing. Before reddit, people would just take to more traditional SF style forums to solve it.

Imagine if we knew that solving the puzzle would lead to a 75% off promo coupon at Barney's? All of the sudden there would be a mega-thread here with people going frame by frame trying to decode the messages.

I don't deign to participate in solving it, but I do find entertainment value in reading about how the solutions develop. It is like some real life spy movie **** watching people dig in (even if 99% of the time, it turns out to be viral marketing for something).

edit: although in this case, I kind of doubt viral marketing. It seems like there are some graphic images of women being abused hidden in there (some of which may have been sourced from google). If you were advertising something, you wouldn't want that tied to your product...and even if you were pumping up a horror movie or something, I think you would have used your own images, not random google results. So it is probably just somebody's weird prank puzzle (hopefully not the ravings of the next school shooter).

Get that and appreciate the explanation. That said, I spend about as much time at Barney's as I do on reddit. :)

Yup, that's been talked about in the reddit thread for several days. Really twisted ****. Latest guess is some school project.

Maybe we're in a meta horror movie like Cabin in the Woods, and all of us who watched it are going to die horribly.

Thanks a lot, Piob, before you posted the video, I'd only read about it, but now I've seen it.
