The old Belgrade airport you could smoke almost anywhere. I've smoked in doctor offices here before. I don't really ever smoke anymore, but I got one from the hotel to smoke in the airport, and le sigh, no longer a possibility.

I used to travel extensively for work for years. There were times toward the end of it where I some nights I would just eat at the hotel but that was the extent of my road weariness. And even then, I would say it wasn't so much weariness but more of a slowing down as I grew older.

Never tired of any part of the travel. Even lining up at the airport is and was exciting. I truly miss traveling.

This.

I used to travel quite a bit for work and enjoyed almost all of it - the only thing I didn't like was the process of parking and traveling between whatever parking area to/from the terminal... for some reason I loathe that process. If I had to travel for work a bunch now, I'd be Ubering to the airport as maybe that would make it a bit more palatable.

Once our oldest daughter was born, I began to transition to a role that didn't require nearly as much travel because I wanted to be home more. As much as I miss the traveling, I used to be gone at least two weeks out of the month and there's no way I'd want to go back to that again. Nowadays, I'm happy with one or two out of state conferences a year as opposed to constant travel for actual development meetings.

I take that back--because I had to do so much international travel, I would often wake up not knowing what city I was in. Domestic travel doesn't do taht for me.

I can relate to that! Airport parking garages are the worst! I try to be a good steward of my employer’s money so anything under 3 days is less expensive to drive/park. I’m reconsidering that for the coming year. It’s so nice to get in an uber vs fighting traffic after a flight.

Uber’s also made it so I only have to rent a car every few months. Rental counter is also a hassle I can do without.

I probably travel two weeks a month (2-3 days each week). Now that my kids are older, it’s not that much of an impact on family. I don’t mind it at all. I’m fairly certain my wife would want to kill me if I was home all the time.

My big bugaboo is changing planes/layovers.
It's non-stop or nothing for me.

Yep... Now that my kids are 14 and 8 and a lot less work than when they 6 or 7 and an infant/toddler, my wife has occasionally asked if I'm going to start traveling for work a lot more again. Incidentally, she only ever asks about my travel schedule after I've been working from home for an entire week or two non-stop! 😆
