I’m pretty jazzed that my flippant diss of realtors is pretty solidly grounded in reality!Got me thinking so I pulled some data. Unfortunately, the BLS doesn't differentiate commercial from residential in terms of real estate agents or brokers and tow truck drivers are lumped in with the generic "Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers", but the medians at the national level are as follows:
Real Estate Sales Agents: $49,982.40
Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers: $49,920.00

If we add include income from extended proprietors (self-employed folks who don't consider the selected job title as their primary source of income), the figures jump quite a bit higher for the real estate agents and actually goes down for the drivers:
Real Estate Sales Agents: $59,807.58
Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers: $49,441.02
