That is not a bad fit, I would probably go the route of Cajun (who actually posted a very similar fit to yours just below) and wear a more minimal sneaker. Or maybe even espadrilles or something similar.

I’m gonna try a different setup and incorporate some low cut sneakers

I would add to roll the pants to around ankle length and it should be perfect with clean sneakers. Because worn as on the photo it looks the pants are too big and too long.
