So, I'm not a big fan of gold watches (unless it's WG). All of my watches are white metals. In certain circumstances, on certain watches, I don't mind rose/red gold. But I really don't like yellow gold.

Here's the question: If a particular, no-longer-made watch from a major brand (say, IWC) was only available in yellow gold, would anyone consider having it plated in rose gold? I note that the watch was available in a slightly different dial in a limited run in rose gold. But not this one.

I'm just not a yellow gold kind of guy but I love the watch. Have it plated with rose gold?

I'm guessing such a drastic modification would pretty much destroy value, no?

Any thoughts/opinions?

You know, I used to be all over the dated Subs (116610) but the more I see no-date Subs, the more I could see myself wearing one!

Trust me, if you ever get the opportunity to own the No Date Sub, you'll never look back.

@gopherblue I'd only do it if I was convinced that I will keep the watch forever. When I got the hands of my PAM 210 gold-plated, I knew it was a watch that I was going to keep

Anyone ever bought anything from Chronostore on 36W 47th St? Looking at some Omega Seamaster which they call "Display model" without paper but they do have their own 3year warranty..., legit?

Frankly, I'd be very wary. What is the difference in price from buying from a reputable grey market seller? A reputable grey market seller would have boxes and papers, just not necessarily stamped papers (although often they are).

For Omegas, how much are you really saving? A grand? Keep looking--deals can be had on Omegas with full kit pretty easily. Too much risk as to provenance and whether it is genuine, but that's just my opinion.

Hell, I know an AD in Europe that'll get you an amazing price once you factor discount, exchange rate and VAT refund in.

In tribute to Roger's fabulous Omega, a rather scruffier version today:

Though this has plenty of sentimental value to me, it's had a pretty rough life for a relatively sprightly 45 year old. I'm amazed at how fresh and modern Roger's looks; lovely size too.

Completely off-topic, but I noticed there's a lot of Canadian presence in the TWAT!

Lovely vintage Omega - a masterclass in simplicity. Love the blued second hand.

Frilly's shoes are like a couple of beautifully burnished chestnuts in the autumn. It's a pity that in the UK we just don't have those shoe-shine setups that you get in the US. Must be great just sitting there reading the paper, getting your shoes expertly shined every day, perhaps a bit of chat with the shoe-shine guy, and one less onerous task to clog up your precious weekend.

Edit - what's a "Candian tuxedo"? Is that a euphemism (like a 'Glasgow kiss')?
