The fauxtina doesn't bother me. I'm just waiting for a couple years for these to be more readily available and at a discount. I'm not paying $7900 plus tax for this.
the math on buying in europe, getting the vat refund, and bringing back works well with the current exchange rate. was tempted by this proposition on the trip i just took for some JMM spectacles…

Speaking of Omega I took the chance to stop by the Milan boutique and try 4 of their most recent releases (kind of nuts to think how many new pieces they've released in the last 12 weeks or so).

new Speedy is meh, primarily because the size is weirdly off. The 42mm Moonwatch is iconic and perfect. The 44mm Speedmasters I think have good proportions, as well. But this 43mm model is not a goldilocks; it's just weird and off somehow. Technical aspects are nice but just a swing and a miss for me.

This is a surprise homerun for me. Way cooler in person than in pics. I'm a lyre lug guy til death but on the wrist this is just really, really cool.

If I wanted a black dial neo-vintage-style-wave-dial Seamaster I'd buy the 2010 co-axial black dial I briefly owned over the summer … or so I thought til trying this. The play between matte aluminum and the domed sapphire + polished bevels is very appealing. Fully lumed bezel is a major draw for me as well. This is great.

Another homerun for me, surprisingly to myself. Love the lightness of the titanium, but while most 2-tone watches feel weird with just the bezel + crown being gold, the lower contrast of the bronze gold against the grade 2 titanium just works. I've never really considered a NTTD because the arrow on the dial seems cheesy to me and the brown just isn't my thing. But this is awesome.

I love the color they've done of the blue for the Bond 60th. They should 100% make that same color in the new config as seen in the black one (without the caseback goofiness or 60 at the 12 o'clock), and boom you have two (nearly) perfect Seamasters.

Just grabbed this from 1916, should be here on Friday. Canadian independent watchmaker Bradley Taylor. I see him every month or so and have handled a few of his watches. Really excited. The blue also matches the blue color I've been using in various consumer brands since 2016 or so lol :)

I might swap the purple hands for polished steel, not sure, have to see it irl first.

Going on a milanese mesh.

Does the next buyer you have lined up want the hands swapped?

This is quintessential Ebitdaddy. Such a tightwad he buys a watch used even though he is friends with the guy who made it. Gotta price in that depreciation. I think he should change his name to Arbitragedaddy. Never change, Ebitdaddy.

Exhibit A: “I think he should change his name…”

Exhibit B: “Never change…”

Schizophrenia much?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
