Speaking of new watches…I had a deposit in for the Ming Bluefin Diver that I had been waffling on and with the unexpected purchase of the Trilobe last month, I kind of blew my watch budget a bit. Starting thinking about getting out of it, but then with their release of the 37.02…I thought it’d just be easier to see if I could swap my deposit to it and they agreed. Figured if I ultimately decide not to keep it…I’d rather deal with selling something A bit cheaper…plus, I didn’t really want the Ming for it being a dive watch…was more interested in the Ming vibe and this does it about the same for my purposes.

I think you made the right choice! The Blue Fin, to me, was not as successful as the original diver, and I think that the 37.02 is more in line with what makes Ming, Ming.

Personally, I think the 37.02 is exceptionally cool. The drive to create white lume is the reason why I find Ming so awesome. Such a small detail that I am sure was a pain in the butt.

It is pretty amazing what Ming has been able to accomplish in a relatively short period of time.

I called the patek boutique here to ask if they had any perp calendars similar to a 3940 and the guy just went on a rant about how there is nothing “classically patek” left in the lineup except for some of the $$$ stuff they never get in 😂

He sounded so depressed lol

The 5327 is the closest you are going to get. And it is wider and thicker than the 3940, despite using the same movement. My biggest qualm with the 5327 is that it did not feel dynamic on the wrist. It felt cheap to me and lacked any sort of depth. The watch felt pad printed, a feeling exacerbated by the large white arial numerals.

Here is a crappy photo I took a while ago:

I like the 5320G. Always had a soft spot for it. But I have been bothered by the use of a rather pedestrian movement with a module on top of it, given the asking price. I feel like it wears better than the 5327.

The best option, in my opinion, is the 5326, if you have the wrists for it. Horologically interesting, and a nice clean way to display information:

It is sizable though.

In all circumstances, I think you’d be crazy to get these from an AD given the hit you will have walking out the door.

The 5326 is one of those watches that would have been beautiful had it come out 30-40 years ago, but because it came out this decade it simply had to be turned into a dinner plate.

Thanks, I’m pretty sure I agree, but I didn’t exactly leave myself with much choice. Regardless, here’s a half-assed lume shot I took last night with my iPhone. The white lume is trippy…kinda of gives off an OLED vibe.

Would have been better with a third branch of bracelet in the mood of a chastity belt g-string. Put the crown on the underside and make it an alarm function to give a bit of fun. That’s the sort of innovation that Patek is esteemed for patenting.
Interesting but the lady wearing it would have to be pretty supple to read the time.

After 3 days of use, I think I found my perfect daily watch. Hamilton and EG did a great collab IMO. No fuss, no mess, simple and efficient design, like both brands usually do. Very nice detailing, and even if it’s a bit expensive for Hamilton, it doesn’t break the bank. Titanium is really light and nice to wear, a big plus.

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)
