The rear view is pretty nice too.

Sadly, limited to 200 pieces each in gold and platinum.
Ick, no one wants to look at that grotesque naked column wheel. Cap that ish like Patek, amirite?

Ya'll ain't gonna admit it, but so far... the white dial Speedy is the best release in 2024.
The watch industry has figured out what hollywood did years ago. Creativity isn't rewarded commercially so most of the box office is monetizing previous success. Whether it's a reboot, a sequel or an adaptation, most big budget movies are not done from scratch.

Same thing with watches. It's not necessarily a bad thing since the ones that aren't re-hashes are more likely to be ugly or otherwise undesirable, but I don't blame people for not getting excited about these things.

Cartier is best in show IMO. In addition to everything shown already, these are two that I called...

Dark dial Americaine - I'm actually very interested in this one, but it's probably not going to make it to my AD

Santos GMT - really nicely integrated subdial, very well balanced colors, no obstruction of numerals.

I'm a big fan of that Tank Americaine. Aside from the Tortue Monopoussoir it's the only new piece that I really like and could see getting a lot of wrist time from me. No real details about that model yet, in terms of whether its going to be a standard production watch, limited production novelty, etc.

The Santos de Cartier Dual Time, I have mixed thoughts about, as I don't love the subdial at 6 or the date widow at 3, but the gray dial with steel could be really handsome in person. Also, being slightly larger than the large time only Santos de Cartier - this could be a difficult watch for a lot of people with average size wrists to wear.

As for general Non-Cartier pieces released.
I like the new black and gray bezel, Rolex GMT Master. I think the color combination works really nicely, but like the other 3 bezel choices more, and I was hoping that perhaps they might release another watch in titanium.

The green dial gold Overseas is nice, but nothing really special. Maybe it's something I'd have to see in person.

I really didn't see many other releases that made much of an impression on me.

Going to let everything marinate for another day, but a pretty weak year across the board in my opinion.

Rolex, not that surprising that the crown had a slower year after the bar burner that was last year. Some solid watches, but nothing too wild.

Lange and Patek were pretty weak. Lange, in particular. Two redials? Really? For 30th anniversary of Lange 1 and 25th anniversary of Dato? Pretty lame. I imagine that Lange will have a big bash on September 25, which kind of cheapens the presentation at W&W. Same thing with Patek. I understand the Cubitus is coming later this year, which explains the lack of fireworks. The proliferation of year-round releases kind of cheapens W&W, although, from the perspective of the brands, I am not sure that I understand why any brand would want to release all of their watches when the spotlight is on the industry.

I think Tudor had a darn good year. And I think that Cartier is best in show, as discussed above.

I agree that Tortue Monopuss is perhaps my top watch of 2024. I don’t understand why Cartier makes its best watches limited. Or I guess I just think it is a real pity.

The white Omega Speedmaster is in my top 3.

Who is going to buy that at the sticker price over the moonshine gold Speedy that's going for thousands less? I predict big discounts at ADs.

Agree. It doesn’t make sense in the marketplace.
Tudor should focus on the 5-7k range and beating up on entry Omega, IWC, and Panerai sales.
