looks like the service mark reads 72 , no ?

it might be presumptuous to think that the watch wasn't very new when serviced but ?

Service intervals were shorter back in the day. So if the watch sold in the mid to late 60's it may have been due for a service in 72.

Am looking for couple of Cartier vintage watches!

baignoire allongée ref 2514
Bamboo coussin
I've never tried a Baignoire Allongee on, but at least in photos it's a very cool looking watch! I've tried on one of their Bamboo Coussin and it's interesting, but not my favorite piece from Cartier.

Guess this loser couldn't get a roli! ;-)

I follow her. The watches, wine, food that her and her friends consume is pretty ridiculous. Also, her husbands face is always blurred out, which is odd because she shows her face

Hello! I'm not a thread regular and not by any means a watch aficionado but I recently purchased a reference 1603 Datejust (I believe there was some discussion of this particular engine turned variant a few pages back, actually) and to say I'm thrilled with it would be an understatement

The crystal is rough but the movement is perfect thus far - all in all not bad for a piece that's at least 50 years old. The serial number is worn, but the guy I had open it up thought it read 297465, which brought up either 1944 or 1957 as the year of manufacture when i ran it through a database. Can that be right? Prior to having it examined I figured early to mid 60s.
Would love any impressions or info you guys might have- happy to upload some more detailed or interior photos if thats helpful.

Like others have pointed out, I’m guessing a missing digit, for example at the end of the serial, making it a 2.9mil approx 1971. Lovely watch, get a new crystal and enjoy it!

Here is my 1977 1603, for reference.

When the weather gets warm, does anyone feel the desire for a summer watch? One that is kind of trashy and pool / BBQ ready? I have never caved, but for some reason I always wish I was wearing something obnoxious. Like this:

I will wear this to garden parties at that one friend of my wife’s who has a douchy husband. I not only fit right in, and also win at douchy.

Worth a gamble (say if at $1k flat)?

For a high quality manual wind ladies watch, $1,000 sounds like a hell of a deal. From looking at it, I think it is older than what the seller suggests, but it is still a true classic from a great watch house. If from 2008, I'm about 99% certain it would say Piaget on the case back (I looked at some men's Piaget's around that time). Not sure if it is a much older watch and the name wore away from many years of daily us, or if it had an engraving to someone and it was polished off to make it easier to sell?
