Can someone with an automatic Rolex Daytona tell me how it wears? I've read that it wears on the smaller size because it is not a maxi case and is actually 39 mm in width rather than the listed 40 mm. That would suit me just fine, as my wrist is just under 7".
My wrist is 6 inches and the watch doesn’t wear big at all.

A heads-up to those looking to purchase on C24: they are based in Germany and so any purchases will be subject to foreign transaction fees as deemed appropriate by your credit card issuer.

I recently made a purchase from a dealer located in the US for an amount in USD and was still hit with a fee charged by my bank.

Just an FYI to those who may not want the sticker shock of any extra fees.

I think it wears amazingly well. Not that I think the current GMTs or Subs wear too big, but the Daytona definitely wears a bit smaller and IMO a bit better. I'd say the difference is notable on the wrist if you're comparing them. For reference I have pretty much exactly a 7" wrist.

BTW, while I know it's subjective, any artists or galleries with an online presence to have a look at?

I've found www.artsy.net to be the best clearinghouse of information. It is a bit overwhelming, so it helps if you have a few artists you like in mind.

Fraenkel for photography. Others around here that I like are Caldwell Snyder, Catherine Clark, Gallery 16 and Hosfelt.

I have the same model. The combination of the tritium lume, hesalite front and display back clinched it for me. (EDIT: oh, and the gilt finish on the movement!)

You seem to have quite a number of interesting watches, @MZhammer , but I struggle to keep up with your acquisitions. I would love to see a family photo if you ever have the chance!

Here is the family shot minus two, the Rolex Cellini that my GF has laid claim to and the FOIS that I am selling.

I love journe however with one retailer controlling the majority of the stock who knows what they're actually worth?

There were rumors that one or two of the big retailers bought a significant amount of the existing stock of Journes last year which caused the prices to skyrocket. Since their production is actually quite low, it does seem plausible for a couple of players to impact the secondhand market compared to AP, PP or Rolex. Of course, the joke is on them now that we are in a recession.

I do personally like Journes alot and think they will be future classics once the man passes away.

Everyone is speculating it's Govberg who's now controlling the market. They've been really pushing Journe watches on their WatchBox youtube channel.

I just think the FPJs are gorgeous. Far more visually appealing to me than almost any PP, for example.

FPJ's movements are nice , but I have never liked the very tiny crowns, and don't love the hands, and I find the the dials are sort of hit or miss. The watches are nice, I just don't have a desire to own one.

As for comparing to Pateks, workmanship is great, and I like some of their watches, but unless one is looking at one of their complicated pieces, many of their designs are stodgy and dull. They offered far more interesting designs in the 1950s and 60s. Today with social medial and branding being what it is, it has almost reached a mythical status where no one criticizes what they produce.

Agreed which is why I find Lange seriously underrated which is hard to believe. Really at their price point who is making a better watch. The datograph is amazing. Even the entry level saxonia punches far above its weight. I struggle to understand why the resale is so low compared to Patek.
