Congrats! I just saw it landed. Well done! I hope it brings you many years of enjoyment. Looking forward to seeing some wrist shots soon! Welcome to the CPCP club .

Congratulations! An excellent choice. I used to have a gold Santos Dumont (not the CPCP version) but sold it to help fund the purchase of a Patek Calatrava. I've always regretted selling it.

Last year, I found a beautiful example of the platinum version of the same watch (this one was a CPCP) on eBay and was negotiating with the seller but never could pull the trigger. I’ll likely regret that decision as well.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I did mine

King Seiko reissue back from service. Pretty painless and happy with the result (8 weeks total). Not bad considering the watch is 18 years young. One critique would be, a lot of the big Swiss brands give you some swag when your watch comes back from service (IWC, JLC, Tag). My seiko came back in a bubble wrapped bag.

All I want back is a case for the watch to be shipped in. I've only had my Omega SMP serviced and I got it back with a case and all of the old parts they replaced. If I ever wanted to return the watch to original form with original parts, I still can.

Root beer GMT looks awesome, even the 2 tone looks great. I still won't get one though because I don't like Rolex and the way they treat their customers.

Went to Vegas over the weekend. Seemed like every third guy over 30 had a Rolex Submariner on...

Yes, lots of Subs and other Rolex watches in Vegas, but its a good solid choice for a do anything, go anywhere watch. If you go to Vegas you can ski one day, go swimming the next day, race cars on a track, shoot machine guns at a range, and go to dinner at a top quality restaurant. If I'm subjecting a watch to a variety of conditions, some of which may be a bit punishing...as much as I love my AP RO, I'm wearing a Rolex to Vegas. Each time I've gone I've worn my black dial 16570.

When I was in Vegas a few months ago I also saw lots very large watches like Hublot Big Bangs, AP Offshores, Cartier Santos 100s, Breitlings, a few IWC BPs, and some other sport watches.

Also, this past weekend when the Mrs. and I stayed at a B&B the owner had a GMT 16710 with all black bezel.

Are you being "given" that swag or is it baked into the higher cost of servicing?

Lovely watch!

Like ****.

Can you be more specific? I am just curious what it is that you specifically don't like about how they treat their customers. I've had both good and bad experiences with ADs and Boutiques for several other brands. However, I'm not sure that would stop me from buying a watch that I really liked unless it was something truly egregious...but to each his own.

^^I think we'll need to concede that the watch weirdos (and I say that with all affection) on this thread are a unique rabble of consumers. So there may be a dislocation between expectations and the kind of services for the marginal luxury consumer.

Mainly the fact that you have to practically beg them to give you the opportunity to buy a $10k+ mass produced watch. I get this for LE watches or other brands that produce really small batches but for a company that produces an estimated 750,000 watches a year, that's ridiculous. I don't mind going in, putting my name on a list, and waiting. What I don't like is going in and being told sorry, you're not a big enough spender so we can't get you a non LE watch and we're not taking anymore names.

I realize that the gripe is more AD focused but Rolex complains about flipping and the grey market and introduces all these rules to stop AD's from selling to grey markets. While doing that, they also restrict supplies to a really low level for the most popular models and churn out 1000's of datejusts that just sit in the counter.
