Does anybody know if Jomashop is legit? The internet says mostly yes, but I'm curious if anybody in my family (Style Forum) has had experience with them.

I bought my Omega aqua terra from Jomashop. No issues. For what it's worth, I consider the "warranty" from jomashop to be worthless. My calculation is always to figure out if the jomashop discount is more than a standard service of the watch by the AD.

I don't know if anecdotes are helpful (the plural of anecdote is not data), but my experience with Jomashop has been entirely positive. Same for Chrono24, for what that's worth.
I'll consider three anecdotes data, so far two of them are on my side! ;)

27 more and I will run a regression.

To make this math more specific, I recommend the following to friends:

If the Jomashop price is less than the AD discounted price, by more than the cost of service, then pull the trigger.

I really wish that they’d used a hesalite crystal for it.

I actually think that hesalite would take away from that watch. The sapphire crystal is better aesthetically on the FOIS considering the hands and polished lugs. Of course that's entirely subjective, but I think it's OK to have some Speedys with sapphire and some with hesalite. People complain about all the limited edition Speedmasters, but I think it just gives you more options to consider.

Guys, I need help. I've become obsessed with Ressence (again). Please tell me I'm crazy for even considering paying $15K (on the second-hand market) for an indie with limited resale value when I could buy a Hulk instead. Or an index fund. Or a kitchen renovation.

It's a very personal decision. If the Ressence floats your boat that much then get it. That said it's a watch I'd surely want to try on before purchasing. I'd also recommend some serious negotiating on that price if that is what they're listing it for as I'm guessing they don't have that much interest.

If you want a Hulk I would think now is the time to get one. My guess is it's discontinued come Spring. Of course with Rolex you never know and good luck going the AD route on that one (my AD seems to be hinting that I'd get a Pepsi or Batman before a Hulk).

For me I can think of other ways to spend $15K on a watch or watches. Again though, everyone has different tastes.

In particular, buy a less in-demand watch like the Cellini. You do your AD a favor, he’ll do a favor for you. An EWC salesman told me he knows of many people who spend thousands on watches they don’t really want to gain the right to buy a watch they do really want. Seems silly to me, but that’s how the game is played.

@Dino944: How did you like the Octo Finissimo, particularly compared to your 15202?
yes but that only makes sense if you have serious coin and want to build a very serious collection. If you just want one watch go grey and skip the line...

It is sacrilege to some, but you can mod the FOIS with any other stock Speedmaster parts. Hate that seconds hand? Swap it out. Dislike the modern font and applied logo on the dial of a reissue? Swap it out... note the correct minute hashmarks too

$15k for a kitchen renovation sounds too good to be true... where do you live?

I like the punk spirit, and my favorite Speedmaster is a standard issue one from 2017 modded out with the Mitsokoshi dial and handset. The only problem with modding things out is... expense and time, and also finding the right OEM parts.

Presently scribbling a letter to Santa.

If you are writing to Santa about that one you must have been a very good boy this year! Beautiful watch, although the lumed hands and markers on a watch like this might take some time for me to get used to (I'm used to seeing pieces like this with applied gold sticks and non-lumed hands). Still, I would be more than happy to own that one. Hope Santa makes it happen for you. Cheers!
