I'm curious to know what is available at the Mississauga outlet, especially Tom Ford stuff. I was at the Vaughn Mills outlet just yesterday, but didn't notice any special discounts other than $100 off of $500 purchases, $250 off of $1000, and $750 off of $2500. There wasn't really anything noteworthy at Vaughn Mills other than a Herno outerwear piece that caught my eye. In terms of tailored clothing, it was mostly Canali, Zegna, Hugo Boss and a few random Bolgioli, & LBM 1911. The entire mall should be open on Victoria Day.

Oh, I should mention that the Holt Renfrew outlet, HR2, has a bunch of Thomas Pink shirts on sale from about $49.99 to $69.99. Those shirts were the only thing that caught my eye in that outlet. As for the Saks Off Fifth outlet...well, it was a bust. Nothing good for guys....decent designer stuff for the ladies though. Oh, and if you're not a Hugo Boss hater, look out for the extra 50% off clearance table and rack at the Hugo Boss outlet.

For tailored stuff, the Mississauga location is best. For Tom Ford, they had dress shirts marked down to $199. And you can stack that with the above discount you mentioned. So if you bought 5 TF dress shirts, it would end up being $150 each. They had cheap Canada goose too.

For TF they also had a bunch of sport coats.

But overall, if you're looking for sport coats or suits or dress shirts, it's a good sale.

One more note: if you buy a suit, you get $100 off + the above cascading discount.

Ok guys, now I need help from you.

I found a beautiful sport coat at the outlet that fits perfectly except for the sleeves that has surgeon cuffs.

To shorten the sleeve, a tailor needs to do it by detaching the sleeve head.

As is, the SC has really nice roping and I don't want to lose that or damage it.

So my question is, is there a tailor that anybody can recommend for a big job like that? Can anybody comment on a similar experience and how it turned out when they shortened the sleeve by detaching the sleeve head?

Thanks!

This might not be the answer you are looking for, because I never asked tailor to do such thing.
How much do you need to shorten the sleeves? If jacket fits you, I would guess not too much. What I do is ask tailor to shorten the sleeves from the hem, even if it means bringing first button close to the hem, and even if it means loosing one button. No one will ever notice. Of course, you will know, so if it makes you unconfortable, then it is not an option.

When altering your best/expensive suit, Xavier is often the right answer.

He always asks me if I want to shorten from the shoulder, but I'm cheap... And it's like 40$ versus 100$. Working cuffs would be another ball game.

Hey TO,

I'm visiting your fine city next weekend and have most of Monday to wander on my own. I'd like to stop in some men's clothing stores. I know this is the classic mensware forum, but I'm cool with streetwear and denim too. I'll be in the city center without a car, but fully capable of taking public transit ;)

I should note that I'm in the market for a suit for summer wedding season, not sure if there is much I can do with only one day in the city.

So where should I go? Coming from Washington, DC BTW where we have most of the chain stores.

Leatherfoot is a must, and why not get measured at Spier Mackay while you're downtown.

Spier Mackay looks really nice. Do you know if they do suit separates in-store? They do not on their website.

Sadly, although my waist is a 6" drop from my shoulders, my thighs definitely are not!

Queen St W: Nomad, Gravitypope, Jonathan+Olivia (meh), Sydneys'. All streetwear. Checkout their respective websites.

Yorkville: Streetwear- Working Title, Want Apothecary, Uncle Otis, Serpentine (for your inner goth)
Classic Menswear- Nicolas (pseudo street), Harry Rosen (cookie cutter), Leatherfoot

Haven is a little out of the way but if you're into Japanese niche brand then it's a must. Feel free to PM if there was a certain aesthetic you're looking at.

I'm pretty sure that Spier and Mackay will swap trousers from different size/fit suits as long as they have them in stock. Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure that I've heard this. Always worth asking.

They do. Its not on the website as an option, and its not marketed as "seperates", you would just need to make a note in your order that you need size X trouser.
