speaking of British, I really like Chrysalis's Churchill greatcoat, though never seen them in the wild (as in someone wearing not in a production shot angle) to know how it looks like for real

Nice coats, but the horizontal seam at the lowest button kills it, IMHO

What do you guys think of the lack of breast pocket on that coat? I think polo coats usually have one, right?

They usually have one, but it's not a must in my opinion. That coat just looks stunning, maybe even better, cleaner due to the lack of the breast pocket.

Yeah it is quite shaped, I really like the collar, but if I were to get something similar, it would be in dark navy fabric, and just flapped hip pockets rather than the flapped patch pockets. Of course that wouldn't be a polo coat anymore lol.

I dislike (hate) breast pockets on topcoats. Just do. They don’t look right to me. Or I could say, looks better and cleaner without a breast pocket.
Not a rule, but a preference.
Can’t think of an exception.

Mailbox/flap would look better on that coat

I agree it needs mailbox/envelope flap pockets and about the breast pocket. It does look cleaner.

It doesn't show the back but I would like a martingale belt and an inverted center pleat.

Interesting. Alden had the same suggestion - eliminate the breast pocket for a polo.

For me, I’ve never specified one way or the other. But I think I prefer a breast pocket. Somehow, it doesn’t look complete without it. Of course, there’s no right or wrong answer.

I'm sure it's a well-made coat, but something about it doesn't look very flattering, almost too A-shaped? Maybe just the posture of the person though.
Agreed. The third button sticking out in the open doesn't look good, but as you say that could just be that there's something in the pocket or the posture that is doing that.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
