I'm to decide which of these double-breasted coats to keep and wondering if anyone has advice on fit, etc. (sorry I don't have any better photos). The left is Spier's polo coat, size 44; in the middle, Cordings' double-breasted covert coat, size 42; and on the right is camel hair from Brooks Brothers. I want plenty of room for layering and movement. I like the ulster collar on Spier's coat a lot, but it's also the heaviest of the three and might be impractical with milder winters. The BB camel coat feels the tightest around the seat and chest, and I'm wondering if it looks that way.

All of them look way too big on you. I would keep none

I have to agree as well if you are wearing what you intend to with it. If not I recommend you give it another try with what you would normally wear under it be it a thick sweater or tailoring. It still will likely be too big but it will give you a better idea.

After spending time on the SWD side and tailoring thread, my take is if this CM side says "it looks too big", that mean's it's just right in my eyes.

I like the Spier one the best.

The Cordings fits the best, but I don't like the high button stance and consequently high lapel, nor do I like the cut.

Brooks one looks good to me, but it sounds like you're not comfortable on it, so I would pass. "Feels the tightest" shouldn't be a sentence for overcoats IMO.

This is something I don't think I have given much thought to before - but that first coat's fabric seems to unsubstantial for the turnback cuff
Turn back cuff with the peak lapels doesn’t mesh, I think. But the silhouettes look nice.
