Thought I'd share a few pics of my Chippewa Crazy Horse plain toe wedge's. Only been wearing them in for a day but very comfortable thus far. They will look even better when worn in and the sole gets a bit dirty. FYI, Haven't applied anything to them yet.

Thanks. agreed, I love the contrast stitching and the sole is another reason I loved them to start with (although not too sure about the sprung toe part?? It actually looks more pronounced than others I've seen on the net). Yeah, they dont seem to need anything done to them yet.

I loved this pic (see link) of them all dusty and used too. Another reason I chose these boots.

I'd really like a pair of the 7" Engineers in either "cordovan" (Chippewa sku 1901M52) or "whirlwind" black (sku 1901M51) Would prefer cordovan, plain toe, but would take either in steel toe if I had to.

No sites seem to have them, with the exception of a scant couple sizes on Rakuten, so were they not a US release then?

Chippewa's response to "I can't find them in your retailer list can you tell me if they're in production?" was "please see our retailer list"

Found these images of the Cordovan 6" Wedge around the internet.. does anyone have these in Cordovan? Can't tell if it's just awesome product lighting or if they really do fade into that shade of red on the toe.. the contrast stiching looks really great too. Damn, kind of starting to have second thoughts about getting Crazy Horse now

I don't have them, but as you know, Cordovan is a "rich shade of burgundy and a dark shade of rose" so they should have a bit of red in them. It's obviously a matter of personal taste but I think you made the right call with the crazy horse Maybe get both The cordovan is nice!

I'm kinda thinking about also getting the crazy horse service boot or the copper caprice bridgemen? The cordovan plain toe wedge is on sale though at Wheat and co now and I was considering it too?

I actually just ebayed a pair of these, here's a couple of the photos I used, if that helps. FWIW I really enjoyed the leather, it's why I posted just yesterday about trying to find those short engineers in cordovan, I assume it's the same stuff.

The first set of pictures are my "crazy horse" leather Homestead boot after a couple of months. My latest are the Homestead "Copper" Ok, some points: First, Chippewa boots are about the most underrated boots around. I have owned Red Wing, AE, Alden, Viberg, Trickers, and White's Semi Dress, yet the Chippewas are hands down my favorite - often priced hundreds of dollars less. They are rugged, well made and you just can't kill them. I really like my new "Copper Caprice" which I purchased from Schott in NY. The leather is thick and supple and I like the "grain" look. The crazy horse model below has seen a lot of this winter and still look and feel great. No they don't have the prestige of the a fore mentioned higher end boots, but if you want a solid American made boot, that will last and look better with age you can't go wrong with Chippewa!

I'm thinking about making the switching to Red Wing 8916... bought my Chippewas for $240 and it was a little pricey. How have your experiences with Red Wing been?

I use Filson boot oil with a light coat of Saphir cream. And I found the Red Wing to be excellent boots - I just prefer the Chippewa.

Some pictures I took of the Crazy Horse 6" Wedge.. have only been wearing them for a bit more than two weeks. Might return these for the Red Wing 8196 (it's much cheaper + there's a tiny hole where the leather meets the sole and the stitching is a little wonky if you look closely on the left shoe), but i'm still up in the air about it. What do you guys think?

I really like my Chippewa for JCrew Moc Toe boots and the GQ has been a reliable and comfortable beater and a good price. Where's a good retailer to look into the Homestead Crazy Horses? Zappos only has the Sunset colorway left.

You might want to call Chippewa, that is how I found that Schott in NY had the "copper" color Homestead. And they have links on their site.
