Have you tried Montevertine? Outside of some Brunellos (Poggio di Sotto, Soldera, Le Ragnaie, Colleone, etc.) it's one of the best expressions of Sangiovese.

BYOB dinner on Friday. Took a 2008 Sea Smoke Ten (good, but way too young). Also took a 2005 Huet Clos du Bourg Demi-sec and a half bottle of a 2005 Huet Clos du Bourg Molleaux Premier Tre (from a half bottle). Interesting tasting two different wines from the same grape/maker/vineyard/vintage expressed so differently. Brought the demi-sec to have with the fish and gumbo dishes. It was awesome. One of my favorites. 1er Tre was for dessert (bread pudding). Tasted them side-by-side at the end of the night. The 1er Tre was good, but also too young. Should deepen and soften with time. The regular bottling Demi-sec is just killer right now though.

Having a 2008 Shafer Red Shoulder Ranch Chard tonight with salmon. Really great. Not your typical oak/butter bomb.

So I tried a Langhe bianco. Didn't like it as much as I hoped I would, for $17.

So I tried a Langhe bianco. Didn't like it as much as I hoped I would, for $17.

I really like the Borgogno Langhe Nebbiolo, it's pretty reliable. What's the bianco, Arneis?

IIRC Langhe Bianco is usually Sauv Blanc & Chard
