Hey,

might be in California this year, are there any good bang for the buck wineries that you recommend? Nice view would be a plus.

A good friend of wine used to work at Joseph Phelps Winery: https://josephphelps.com/

Not a good bang for the buck, but the wine is uniformly excellent, and the views are spectacular.

2020 Babs is coming out after all. Head to claricewines.com and see if you can order as a non-member. 24 pack = $16 a bottle (including shipping.)

'California' is too broad... Are you going to be in Napa/Sonoma? Paso? Santa Barbara/more southern california?

Almost everything in Paso is 'value' relative to Napa/Sonoma, but they tend to be Rhone varietals vs Napa/Sonoma is more Cab/Merlot centric.

Likely I could spare half a day near all these places, as the route would go from Joshua Tree north along the mountains and then north of SF near Napa and then south to LA or San Diego.

Good to hear Paso is value, as forum here suggested Austin Hope once and now its one of family favourites! Though I guess we know them too well by now to visit.
