Hey guys, does anyone have a good method for getting wines from vineyards that don’t ship to your state? Finding that a few recs from this thread can’t be shipped to TN ?

There are third party shippers just for this. The drawback is you pay CA sales tax and probably your local plus the shipper has to make a living. It's been a long time since I needed to use one but I used a company called Always Cool in Sonoma once. Try a Google for "third party wine shippers" in California.

so, uhh, at the risk of being rude i find myself compelled to ask: how many wine drinkers are currently in your house, @NJE66, and what time zone are you posting from?
?The dog excluded and wife included that would have been two.

I roll on central European time, the one time zone to rule them all.

ah ha! so you weren't starting your campaign with a bottle of champagne at 10:18 a.m. (which i had suspected might be the case if the "nj" in your user name indicated that you were in the state of new jersey.)

slightly off-topic: a friend of mine has always been a serious beer drinker with no interest in wine. that latter part is changing due to quarantine, as he has started drinking wine with his wife. the other day he told me he really got in the spirit and drank four bottles of wine all by himself, and then stayed in bed for a solid thirty hours.

Tonight's meal was not without peril. First, I pulled the wrong vintage! I looked up the bin the 96 was in, went there and pulled the Pensfold that was sitting right there. Stupid me, I had both the 96 and 94 in that bin and the 94 was first. Then, the cork broke. Immediate fumble recovery and it all went well.

The wine was insane. So smooth but the tannins were plenty for the dinner. Stewed plumbs, plumbs, light graphite, some black olives, a little licorice, mocha...yeah, this did not suck.

I've had some decent PG stuff and I've had some stuff that was a little rough. How was that?
