I just hated everything about it. There's nothing cool going on there, other than two decent restaurants (a burger place and Dierk's Parkside Cafe for breakfast). Other than that, it has all the problems of cities and also all the problems of small towns. Crime, drugs, homeless people, an incredible amount of traffic--- I think every individual drives there, and none of them know how. Everybody is nosy. It's boring. It's dirty. To me, it is a stain on Sonoma County.

It's pretty bad. Big skinhead problems. Lots of low class drugs. Gangs come in on weekends. Nothing to do now that the real estate marked died. Pretty fucked up these days.

DAMN and to think I almost booked a hotel there. Glad I opted for the Ivy Hotel in Napa!

Failla for Friday confirmed! Can't wait I loved their PN's at Pinot Days...right up there with Fog Crest which we should be visiting on Saturday!

Now...if only my US Cellular rebates would arrive in time

Sounds like just the kind of place several of my relatives would like.

I read a lot about their syrahs and can't wait to try them. So far I've only had their Pinots from AV and RRV, which were on the old world side.

That first syrah was a bit different from their current offering. It came from the Que Syrah vineyard out on the Sonoma Coast and it was such a cold site I think the grapes would get ripe enough to make wine about every third year. It was a different beast to be sure, but I really enjoyed it. Regardless, Ehren Jordan is a pretty talented guy and one of the few CA winemakers able to make wines successfully in different styles.

I have a trailer park in Desert Hot Springs you guys should visit if you'd like to re-calibrate your radar for crappy locales.

I have step-relatives there. My mother calls them the Clampetts.

Whoops, that was a general post and not a response to your question, Binge.

I'm typically not a fan of new-world Pinots but Patricia Green makes a pretty good one. Definitely one of the better producers out of Willamette.

Domaine Huet Vouvray "Le Mont" demi-sec from '07 - ******* delicious, tasted like honey and flowers but without being overly sweet. We drank this with fresh from the oven gougeres

I think I found my go-to rose for summer 2011. Chateau du Donjon from the Minervois region in the Languedoc. Fresh strawberry, little bit of lime, great acid backbone, really pleasing. Just fantastic.

Had an 06 Merry Edwards Tobias Glen Pinot and then cracked a Tesch Spatburgunder 1L bottle. I'm not sure, but think I might open another bottle yet tonight. We'll see.
