Better pics. If anyone else can chime in I would greatly appreciate it as I'll have to go through the return process on eBay or Paypal!

Going to vote fake due to the really sloppy tag stitching, and the fact that the font on the tag has really wonky off centered alignment. Though the only burberry scarf I've ever handled was one of their summer scarves, and they have a different tagging system, more closely related to their clothing tags.

Hi everyone. I am super new to this game and likely more clueless than most beginners. I must admit I just came upon this thread and have yet to crack the surface, but I'll be reading it from start to finish just like the shoe care thread, among others. I just moved to an apartment in the heart of Greenwich, CT and I feel like I'm in thrift heaven--only problem is the stores already have the markup built in, it seems. The Goodwill in Westport is nicer than some department stores! I live less than a mile from the Greenwich Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store and the stuff I see in there blows my mind. I can't afford most of it--seriously (and I'm not THAT poor).
Anyway, it's really cool to see what you guys are doing out there. I just wanted to introduce myself as i started to feel kind of creepy lurking. Hopefully I'll be more active soon! For now, I'm sticking to neckties and items that I want to wear myself if all else fails.
If anyone has any advice on a decent camera setup (just the camera/lens/tripod/accessories---I've been reading all of the tips on lighting and whatnot) that's available at a good price right now, I'd love to hear it. I'd like to keep it under a grand for sure, but will be launching an e-commerce site soon (unrelated to thrifting don't worry haha) and would love to be able to snap some great shots for that as well. So let me know what I should be looking for and if anyone has some recent used gear they'd like to get rid of, shoot me a PM.

I'll leave you with one interesting thing I purchased: Kiton Napoli 90% Cashmere/10% silk. I feel like I need a beret to wear it. Better yet I feel like I would absolutely kill it in a beret and this thing

I was just educated on that very topic via PM. No wonder it's so hard to button and the body fits like a 40R but the sleeves come up to my elbows. And no wonder I feel like I'm not quite filling it out.

Damn....well give me a credit for one thing: this is one of the more interesting first posts in this thread I bet. I've been wearing this thing for a few days now. I took pics of myself in it tonight for lack of a mannequin. Hahahaha.

Does this mean it's worth 10 times as much? or nothing at all? as I understand it, this is a binary system. Hit or miss so to speak.

That sucks, dude, I'm sorry. Kiton in the first post is a great first post by my count. Welcome to the thread! And it looks like a lovely piece, you can probably snag some good $$ for it.

Hit up a new store today. Thought wouldn't have much because of how small the place is, but look what I found!

This for myself

I knew the month of September was a popular one for births, but that sure has translated over to new thrift members as well. So far the good finds have outweighed the bad. Welcome all new members!

Seriously, it took me 3 1/2 years of thrifting hard to come up on my first piece of tailored Kiton, and the last 5 new guys to post seem to swimming in the stuff. WTF?

Because the newbs have been finding it all.

I still have yet to find tailored Kiton at thrift prices.

wanna hear the sad part? There was a 100% cashmere brown sport coat at the same spot a few weeks ago and I passed on it at $75 (that one was men's I swear).

Who wants to hook me up with some tricks of the trade in exchange for posting the selfies I took to post on ebay wearing a woman's size 48 IT (12 US!) blazer? What a moron!

We used to tell newbs to go back to the beginning of the thread and read from start to finish, but that is probably unrealistic at this point. But go back at least 800-900 pages to get a good primer on the thrift game. If you have a specific question about reselling, there's an eBay thread you could dip into.

Thrift fit, because I haven't done that in awhile. Came back from a Gasthaus in a drizzle, so I look a bit rumpled. The dog is fine, he just has a scratch that he was licking.
