Hope you don't mind a lurker interjecting, but the Versace tie several pages back is probably real - that was the label they started using in 78, and didn't discontinue until the late 80s.
One of my local consignment shops just received an estate from one of Versace's former lovers - I have never seen so many jolie-laid pieces of clothing in my life! (pants with so many pleats they were ruffle-front, mint green double breasted suits, violent yellow plaid shorts) But, after the last three months, I have seen every label used from 78-05

Pretty much. I plan to swap these in for the few hardwood/mismatching ones I still have. But that will prolly still leave me with a number of spare pairs.

Let me know if you want to get rid of any of those cedar pairs. Thanks.

I don't usually qft, but man, these posts need to be recognized again.

First this:
So I had a great day today. Being the broke-ass that I am at the moment, I decided to take a bunch of stuff that I'm too lazy to post on ebay, to the local buy/sell/trade spot. As they are going through my bags, I decide to check put the men's stuff. This is one of the those places that caters to the H&M crowd, so nothing worth mentioning, although, this is the place I found a pair of RLPL trousers for Brianpore about a month ago. Anyhoo, I didn't find anything in the mens section, so I decide to check out the woman's section. I nearly shat myself when I saw this. RLPL double breasted greatcoat made out of 100% cashmere, sick hounds-tooth with purple window-pane over-check. Ticket pocket, vented, huge peak lapels and large horn buttons. Pretty much one of the nicest pieces of clothing I've ever handled. This is a few years old to be sure, but my ****** google-fu indicates that these retailed for 3-4K when new. Unavailable at the moment. Anybody know who made this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Found this on the inside breast pocket, suede pouch with extra horn buttons. :slayer:

Then I found this, two garments down from the jacket. PRL by Corneliani hacking jacket. Amazing pattern, real leather buttons, neck latch, ticket pocket, suede elbow patches and double vented. Also a 46R. This gent had some good taste. Also N/A for the moment.

Ant the best part is, after the discounts from the stuff I traded in, I payed less then $10!!!!!! They had the RLPL posted as Polo Ralph Lauren. :D

Then this ridiculousness:
Dang, Eazy - that coat was likely 6 or 7k new. Fantastic. Youll make a mint selling it.
Mercuryman, check your PM. I want pents.
As promised, heres some sneak preevs of the Nataku/Spoo croc flipathon 2012.....they go live Thursday...

add to it this insane deal:
$95. Trees, flannels, reglaze, box, bag. I got hooked up lovely. All those shoes I bought came in handy. lol.

then this which reminded me that i just passed one more medical school course (not a thrift brag, but a brag no less)!!!!:
Why must everyone be ******* killing it when I'm broke, and taking. midterms? On a brighter note I did snag something awesome yesterday. it rhymes with carrera and... wtf rhymes with sartorial?

the insanity continues, regular mere mortal posters scoring so many cool things:
Amazing hauls guys, as usual- especially Eazy E and Mercuryman- Insane!!

If for-profit enterprises allow "volunteers" to work, then they're breaking federal and state employee laws related to minimum wage and a host of other employee protections. If, on the other hand, such "volunteers" are paid, then they're really not volunteers at all. WTF does it mean to "volunteer at a for profit thrift shop," Ian??

they sign off on my volunteer hours, and it was on the suggested list of places to volunteer for senior service hours so I don't know you tell me, I think it is for profit because they don't say they are related to to any other big name thrift stores like goodwill or savers, so maybe the principal is getting a knock back?

Hi all! Newbie here! Been learning and lurking for a little while. Thanks everyone for the insame amount of knowledge and info shared.
BTW, those 'gator 'gamos are CRAZY!!!!
bounce2.gif

No brags yet, until I learn more. For now, questions. I picked these up a few days ago.
Are they shell cordovan? Who made them??
They're labeled "Sears Premiere Collection".
Sears shoes on ebay are mostly calfskin and don't have the "Premiere Collection" designation. Premiere means shell cordovan?
They have V cleats, but no 5 nails.
I thought only Florsheim used V cleats, but on ebay I've seen Hanover using them as well.
I also thought only Florsheim made shoes for Sears, but google showed Hanover did too!
The inside code is 5-digits, but not 93605 which would mean Florhseim shells.
Hanover codes are mostly 8 digits?
And then below the bottom eyelet there are the circular punch holes, which I have not seen on other shoes.
Please advise!
