I remember someone posting a picture of a jacket so thick it could stand on it own a while ago.. well here's a wax jacket so stiff it can do the same thing! (after hanging outside for a couple hours, trying to get the smell out.)

Any advice regarding that? It has a very strong scent of old wax. Fits me great but can't really be worn around people in this condition...

I've never seen a jacket that can stand up on its own...pretty cool!

I had the same issue with a new Filson I bought a few years back. I just left it hanging outside for about a week and it was better, but the smell didn't really go away for about a year. I'd try what Evil Abed suggested and then just let it air out as much as possible.

For the larger-than-me gentleman:

I'm fairly certain this is not an orphan.

I've left my camera gear at the studio I work at and between shoots I've managed to snap a shot of my newest thrift addition, here being the Coppley from yesterday, also, wearing a Kamakura button down. :)

After all my "Is it selvedge?" newbie posts...Still no selvedge, but these feel like it takes me out of known territory in my redneck SE Texas town.

Normally I'd say throw it in a trash bag with a bunch of tea bags (like plain black tea, cheapest you can find), and then knot the bag so it's airtight. The tea bags do a great job of absorbing odors in garments. The issue here though is that it's the wax that smells, and the fabric is impregnated with the wax… Suppose it's still worth a shot though. Just know that you can't really take it to a dry cleaners- they'll trash it. You may have to take a wet washcloth and wipe the whole thing down a few times. Is it a Barbour? You could send it to them and have them re-wax it, might remove some of the funk.

Thanks guys! Never heard of that tea bag trick but will def try it! I know some people have successfully machine washed their jackets so that will be the last resort (have to re-wax it afterwards ofc)

Sadly not a Barbour. It's from Oxford blue, cheaper but still made in England. Pretty nice except it has a cheap poly lining.

The drop makes it an orphan, but it's a super nice one, and my size if not already claimed.
I have some buttons I can swap out...

...and did someone say 70% off Filson? Great if you're an 11.5, on "TheClymb" website.

Unless I'm wrong, having a drop on the tag doesn't mean anything, really.

And it is available ...
