Somehow I messed my multi quote up and it won't let me.... @Klobber: Love that suit, you can certainly pull it off. I can't add anything more to the tailoring thoughts that hasn't already been said. Post a pic if you decide to have some work done on it! :slayer: @Mzhammer: Great look! Well done! @GMMcL: Awesome looks all around!
This is great. Really nice work. I will add my outrage. I think Spoo usually just goes straight to the police. If this really is identity theft, there's no way you're going to unwind it via email. Unfortunately I'm short on time today, or I'd go on a rant and a half. Quick thrift fits: Today, daytime.
Carroll & Co (330CK) J Crew Cardi (Nat) Tom Ford (Eddie) Rooster (me) Trafalgar (Spoo) Kilgour (me) PRL (me) Alden monk, suede (S_Allen)
Tonight This is what I'm going with (may call an audible on the shirt and go with full collar, but it has a subtle ruffle front and I like the "griddle" pattern of this one better): Full shot with different tie (RLPL, found by me): Details: Lord West (CAP'N!!!) Charvet Abboud (fmr employee discount) Zegna tux trou (ORG!) Pantherella Unknown shoes
Closeup of the jacket with the other tie Zegna full tux RLPL tie All other details the same.

PayPal would NEVER screw anyone. But in all seriousness, relying on PP to do anything other than run away is not a good bet. It likely won't matter in this case, given it's the seller who got hosed, but one should always make PP payments via a credit card, which adds another, and usually beefier, level of protection--PP won't go to bat for you, but your bank will. Again, though, that's only for buyers.

In this case, I think that whoever suggested the postal inspector is dead-on accurate. Calls to the U.S. attorney's office, both where the seller lives and where the package was sent, are also a good idea. My guess is that this isn't going to be an easy field to plow. A couple grand is a big deal to you or me, but not to federal law enforcement, which is all-too-often reluctant to take on any cases that aren't easy slam dunks--think crack and ****** Appreciation. Anything having to do with this type of fraud is generally too much trouble for them, which is why so many people do it and get away with it. With this in mind, keep a record of everyone who you talk with and what they say. Write it down, along with names, dates and times. It's a PITA, to be sure, but vital. Ultimately, you want to be able to call up your congressman or senator--or both--when your complaints aren't adequately addressed and have them do some leaning. That may produce results that you won't be able to obtain on your own, but your elected representative needs to have a clear record of what you've done and with whom you have spoken. They tend to get a lot of complaints from constituents, but few cogent ones. So make sure that yours is cogent and makes sense.

And good luck. My guess is, this is going to require a lot of patience and persistence. You can't sue the guy because a lawyer will cost more than you can recover, so you'll have to rely on the government, which is never a good position to be in.

pnutpug, with all due respect (i mean that too) i don't think any postal inspector, us atty, etc would do anything in this instance. anyone he'd talk to would say "talk to paypal." telling eddie to do any of that (even while acknowledging that it's a tough road to hew) is just not realistic.

Update my brother called post office in chunk hills he owns the po box and he came in produced I'd and signed for it they have the date and time and everything. But they won't do anything since from their end nothing wrong happened. If PayPal would investigate like they should then they would get IP address from sf and documentation from post office and decide in my favor and ban him from PayPal anyone with any new ideas?

Unworn AE "Logans." The current Logan is a boot, so I'm assuming these were discontinued. 9D. Tentatively available.

Identity theft falls within the postal inspector's purview, as it's mail and wire fraud.

Not to say that's a guarantee he'll get any attention, but just noting that it's not the wrong advice.

yeah. i wasn't saying that he didn't violate some sort of law, i was just saying that the reality is, no one outside of paypal is going to do anything about it. limited resources, discretion, etc.

THANKS OBAMA.

I have an idea, the thing is all his money was transferred out of PayPal they just put him at a negative balance, can't he just close his account, PayPal will try to collect then hell agree to a court date and present the evidence and any sane judge should side in his favor, would that work?

GMMcL: Definitely go with the full, traditional tux with a bow tie. You'll look 1000 times sharper.

@ Eddie et al: I really haven't read the facts and shouldn't have weighed in. The fact that he was saying his account had been hijacked is what I was focused on, but now I realize the whole point is he IS the guy who owns the accounts.

Your objection is noted for the record.

And overruled.

This is going to be a whole building filled with incredibly stuffy people in penguin suits. There's no small amount of sartorial sardonism going on here. Last time around I wore my white tux and everyone thought I was a Bond villain.

It.

Was.

Awesome.

(Edit: And I'll have the black jacket with me, if I feel like reverting after the cocktail hour. But frankly, a few martinis is going to make me more, not less, likely to ROCK THE VLAD)

eddie: none of us here are your attorney. you should read the Paypal user agreement and terms of service before you spend any more time thinking up of ways to fix this. good luck dude.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
