@Ds13 sweatshirt fleece is basically jersey with a floating pile ( lol ) on the wrong side , loopwheel is really about how the jersey itself is knit not the pile .

and tbh the loopwheel process really does change the character of the knit compared to to usual way , and i would say most especially with all cotton yarns . unless your stuff is from like the 50s it's unlikely to be made on a loopwheel machine , idk quite when they stopped using em tho .

so most likely either regular sweatshirt or french terry which is hard to explain the diff without having examples in hand , terry drapes better typically sort of looser and not so chewy as sweatshirt fleece . the loopwheel stuff is even chewier at its best and most classic . $.02 !

i'll edit to add either process can be on a circular platform , side seams aren't an indicator
lol floating pile.

makes sense though! Appeciate the insight, I need to get hands on with something loopwheeled, I think it would help.

A very modest contribution to the thread today. Been spending most of the past few weeks catching up on backlog (just listed a bunch of items photographed, measured and packed in March 2021 – agh), but got about 300+ listed. Thrifting activity has therefore been limited just to the three local thrifts (one GW, two charity). However, I did have to go to a doctor's appointment in a town about an hour away, and dropped into a funky thrift that seems to attract really old stuff. Somehow I always knew I'd end up with some shell out of there, and sho'nuff, that was the day: a very nice pair of 1969 shell 93605s. Finally, a pair in a size that will fit me!!

Given that the soles have been replaced, I can't quite figure out whether the heels may have been replaced too, and with a V-cleat.

More @Fueco stuff (hey man, check your PMs, please)

Kitty and Cuci (which I guess sound like the same thing). Both my size, yay!

And a couple of RLPL polos. I thrash these pretty regularly, so always happy to have more in my size.

And finally, a geeky find for the electronics guys: local yard sale, and stoked to pick up this inop OG digital multimeter from Beckman for five bucks. These were $350 back in the day. Replaced the SIX D-size batteries (amazingly, no corrosion/leakage from the old ones), and it fired right up. Already used multiple times.

OK, back to listing. Keep the thread en fuego, gang! . . .

Finally part of the Cucinelli Club. This was the last jacket I checked after looking through 3 full racks with nothing of note.

Unstructured Wool-Mohair-Silk blend 3-Roll-2 Sportcoat in blue check.

I never find the time and cost to rewax a barbour to be worth it. By the time I need to redo my old one I'll prob have thrifted another one that doesn't need rewaxing and just switch it out. I have watched a couple of vids where they heat the thorn dressing in warm water and just do it themselves. Seems like a not complicated and relatively fun project someday.

Barbours reproofing and repair center in USA used to be in Milford NH, attached to one of their outlet stores. It was awesome, they would get things from around the country needing work, and if the customer didn't want to spend the money, and it was not too badly damaged, they would repair it and put it out on a rack in the store. I gpicked up some sweet vintage Beauforts and bedales over the years. They moved to North Carolina, but New England Waterproofers is a few of the guys that worked at the Milford location for years, and didn't make the move down. They do excellent work, have used them 4 or 5 times over the years, it is same quality work you would get if dealing directly with Barbour.

$85 seems like a fine price for a professionally waxed jacket. I've done a couple before, and the result has been less than ideal.

Yea $85 isn't bad, my Filson waxed canvas jacket got washed, repaired, and rewaxed for like $120 in 2019 at their flagship here.
