Also just noticed this is a completely different dye (I think)? Both compared to my current pair and the product photos. My current pair to the left. Did they switch and not change the photos? Or was this a washed return pair or something?

I'd keep it if they offered 50% off. Otherwise easy return.
If you weren’t planning on washing them, I’d exchange for sure…
I'll try and see what they say. Was not planning on washing for 3 months at least.
Were those from a store or the distribution center? I've received HBT officer pants where the legs are bunched up and tied with strips of fabric. It was intentional and came from the factory that way which I thought rather odd. I remember seeing SAs stocking the racks with them that way.

I'd think with jeans I'd just give them a light ironing, rant about it here, and then forget about it. Assuming there's nothing wrong with them besides being wadded up.
UPS says came from Greensboro NC? I'd ideally not iron them, but I'll think on it. Depends on if they offer a discount. If not, I'd rather exchange.

Need advice. New jeans just arrived, direct from Ralph... the legs were shoved upward inside the thighs, balled up, with the seat folded over, and wrapped up tight with a bow--a nice personal touch, I guess?

Should I complain/exchange/return or just deal with it? Is this normal and I'm overreacting? Never have I received a garment this badly packaged, even from randos on Ebay. My other once-washed pair from Cultizm came all the way from Germany crisp and pristine. I'd never have expected this from Ralph. Disappointing.

Yeah I believe the once washed run a full size small. I have the slims and have been wearing them for a week now. They stretched a little but still fit about a half size smaller than I like. Definitely tighter than my other RRL slims in the same size.

The thing that annoys me most about these is the eyelits are sewn too small. I don't know if this is an issue with just my pair or all of them. I have a hard time buttoning and unbottoning these jeans, even with them off and in my hands. They screwed up the eyelits. I don't think I have ever experienced this in a pair of jeans.

Okay, I finally actually tried them on. And I mean tried them on. I can't even button them... They're 1.5 inches too small, despite being 30 waist like all my other pairs. Also extremely tight in the thigh and leg. What is going on here?

I have a pair of low straight once washed from 2023 that are like yours on the left.
A pair of straight fit once washed from similar time are like the ones on the right.
I think they just randomly use whatever for the once washed.

The product description for the low straights says "Hand-finished in a process that involves up to 50 individual steps using specialized tools and techniques." I assume the straight fits use the same process and that some of the steps involve wadding them up into a ball.

I do think they pawn off damaged returns on the unsuspecting online buying public. Not for these prices Ralphie boy… that’s crazy

Edited to add: They should label them as blemished even if they’re on sale or not!

I have other once-washed pairs in 30, all straight leg. Haven't gained weight. These fit like slims, but are labeled 30 straight. Agreed on the eyelets; my other pairs are not like this.

Hmm, my (normal) straight fits are from 2024. They probably do use whatever. I strongly prefer the yellow tint, sadly, but that's the least of my problems with this pair!

I think that's what happened here. I did not get these on sale, either. Full price. They're going back for sure.

I emailed, but no response yet... though I did receive a survey to rate the response.

I got a pair of canvas work pants recently. I had a hell of a time getting them unbuttoned just to try them on. I used a pocket knife to enlarge the button holes. I’ve had to do this surgery on a number of garments recently. I remember doing this on the brown denim fleece collar jacket.

That's nuts to have to do that to a garment. Not to say you're nuts. Though one would think such experiences might make one re-think buying the brand again. ;)

I've received both variations, and I've studied the labels, and I think I know the deal. The wadded up ones have white weft, and they are an earlier version. With the next production run, they softened the fabric, gave the weft a yellow/tan stain, and packaged them flat. I believe they are filling orders with the earlier version first, and as sizes are depleted, they start shipping the latter version. So, depending on what size you order and what their remaining stock is, you could get either one.

The crumpled-up version was just their attempt at a marketing gimmick, which must not have gone over very well. IMO, it doesn't harm the quality of the jeans per se, as the creases and folds will disappear and even out in time.

As far as the color, I don't know for sure yet because I haven't washed mine enough to tell, but I think the ones with the white weft will fade to a "clean" blue, and the ones with the tinted weft will fade to more of a "dirty" blue. (Like you, I prefer the tinted version.) I don't know whether the entire jean is tinted, or just the weft yarns.

I don't know what to say about the sizing issues you've had with these because I've never experienced that.

I hope you get all this resolved and wind up with something you love.
