I've ordered ~10 in the last month many of which got returned because of inconsistent sizing. I had the same shirt in medium. One that fit perfectly and the other that fit too loosely. In the end it seemed like in the Western flannel I wore a medium. In the denim and cord shirt I wore a small. I'm 5'9" and 160 with a 38.5' chest. Also, the brown bear jacquard overskirt was massive in a medium on me.I thought the RRL Western shirt sizing has always been consistent, I have like 4 and always just small
20.5 p2p is definitely a small. That's what all my small westerns measure.Snake Oil Provisions provides measurements of medium at 20.5 p2p, while the Ralph Lauren site says medium is 42.75. Thats a pretty sizeable difference
It's a really tough job for a tailor to shorten sleeves at the armholes. They have to fell the seams (fold them into each other) like the original construction. Then getting the topstitching straight and even is almost impossible without a factory machine. They also need to use the correct thread for denim, which is thick polyester thread wrapped in cotton. The reason for the cotton-wrapped thread is so the thread will fade and age along with the garment. (100% poly thread won't fade). Many tailors will shy away from this sort of work because it's just begging for customer dissatisfaction. You took a risk having it done, so be glad it turned out well!Yes sir, seamstress at RL handled it for me and did a fantastic job. Sadly, no internal pocket. I know this since I went to put my phone in that inside pocket this morning, and bam

Wow, that's small. Do you measure from the armpit seam (where the sleeve meets the body), or a little below that? Also, do you put yours in the dryer? My RRL western smalls measure 19” p2p
As I re-read what I said above about the correct thread, that's obviously not as important as the quality of work. If she used a heavy-gauge 100% poly thread on your coat, that's fine. You may never even know. The cotton-wrapped thread is just a nice perk if your tailor can offer it. It keeps the garment closer to OEM. What matters is she did nice work and your sleeves are now the length you want. They also need to use the correct thread for denim, which is thick polyester thread wrapped in cotton.
