At one point the Low Straights were definitely their signature Jean. Now it’s rare they even have my size in stock. I also haven’t tried them though since they switched denim mills.

I dig the raw/ one wash blue slims. I think the fit is a little better now then it was a few years ago. I hate the fit of the black ones on me at least. Something just doesn’t work.

Yeah, lucky for me, I built up a solid collection of denim over the 2010 to 2013 period, when most of the washes and fits used really solid fabrics. Now its much more hit or miss, and I usually struggle to put any of the denim since about 2018 on par with the earlier stuff. Just looks and feels less substantial somehow. There are definite exceptions, and the Ridgway I bought recently feels and looks much more like the earlier denim. I actually returned a pair of once-washed low straights I bought a few months back, as they just felt and looked super cheap somehow

That bums me out for next time I need a new pair. Did it fit the same or was it just the denim quality itself that felt off?

Actually, the fit was a little off somehow, seemed closer to slim than the low straight I was used to. Denim quality was main issue though, and current iterations don't seem as solid and substantial somehow. The good thing is the denim I bought in that period doesn't get much wear since I have a fairly large selection, so these will likely last me until such time as I graduate into white leather Reebooks and relaxed fit pleated dockers, so I think I'm good

Cool, that was smart. I was able to very recently get a brand new one wash pair from the old mill that the rrl store had left over from a few years back. I just need to get them hemmed but very happy I have those in the reserve.

@gnatty8

You seem to know your **** so my apologies if I’m telling you something you already know… but if you size down 1 on the straight leg fit it’s very similar in the leg to your normal low straight size. I also feel if you size up one on the slim it’s pretty similar in the leg (the rise of the slim will be higher though especially as you size up). I still think LS are the best fit, but the other 2 are pretty decent options.

I know you’re set until old age… but just in case 😜😜

lol, I probably have a half dozen pair of the straights, and I do love them, but only when I'm in the mood for a higher waisted jean, since they def fit closer to the natural waist than the low straights. Straights would probably look decent with those white leather reeboks as well, so maybe I'll get to skip the Dockers yet. Wonder if a tailor can hammer me in some pleats on those straights?

Let's talk slim bootcut. I loved that fit, and only snagged two pairs when they made them, a once washed with some fancy ass cowboy stitching around front pockets, and a really great brown/tan pair. Anyone else miss those?

Here are the slim boots, tan pair, really neat finish on these, and wish I had a fit picture, but do not. Second photo is the once washed. We need to petition them to bring this fit back am thinking

Cool strap. For Apple Watch you’ll need adapter end pieces. Plus the buckle doesn’t really match.

Carrera is excellent btw.
