Really dig the Barrie Indy. The round mock is nice.

Question for some Alden Shell veterans. Has anyone ever owned some color 8 shells from start (initial owner) to finish (long-term say 5-10 years or longer) and never sent them to Alden for refinishing?

I am seriously considering converting my B&M grant-lasted wingtip boots from antique edge/welt to black but I'm worried that 5 years out what are the consequences if I need a refinishing.

In Shell Cordovan Have I down half size? 9 un Shell Cordovan or 9,5 like suede?

Suede tends to be more forgiving than shell in terms of stretch, so I wouldn't size down if the 9.5 is comfortable.

I would doubt any consequences at all. You aren't getting them resoled by anyone else. You are just applying edge dressing. (simplified)

Agree. If Alden resoles, they will return to antique edging. They won't deny you a recraft or anything.

Lovely. The wide angle shot perspective really distorts the actual size and shape comparisons of the boots. Which do you like the best and why?

Thanks guys. If I make the change it will also include the welt (I think that's what it's called). Also, to be honest, I assumed I would need to use dye in order for the recoloring to take. Edge Dressing sounds much better.

Which model suede barrie shoe do you have? If it is an unlined dover (new-out-of-the-box), they tend to be more snug than other lined barrie shoes. IME, all lined barrie shoes are very consistent in sizing across the different materials (i.e. shell, suede, and calf). Exception: Chrmxl tends to stretch much more and can fit looser than others with a bunch of wear.

I would not recommend changing size because of material.

I would agree. Only sizing issue i find is flat welts tend to fit much tighter across my foot.

Very impressive collection of Indy Boots! All look lovely. Glad that you made the 2017 transition over to here!

Interesting, I don't change size on the last for essentially any reason.

For your reference if u are interested in the whiskey brass eyelets ptb which someone mentioned here not long ago.

So, where are these sold?
