Is that an heirloom ( vintage) fabric?
It looks like what I saw on older well-dressed men
when I was a kid (1950s). Even at that age I noticed
clothing.

Looks like R&T, but there is a line of 12/13oz worsteds that keeps changing its name. http://www.huddersfieldcloth.com/Products/The_High_Twist_Collection/1

Could be that. Or Dormeuil Sportex, which seems to keep coming in and out of the catalogue.

It's looking good so far. The colors don't come through really well--it's a dark green base with gold/rust/burgundy checks.

As I mentioned in the WAYWRN thread, I love the jacket, but strongly dislike (verging on passionately dislike) the shirt, tie, and square.

P.S. Who stole the cuffs from your trousers? Were you wearing them when the theft occurred?

I've been looking at lots of @voxsartoria early fits from Steed. I'm not sure the Steed Cut works for him. He looks look a Bouncer in those clothes. An elegant one perhaps but still ......

The last thing he needs is a 'Built-Up" coat which is what it appears, Steed does best.

I'm studying Vox's fits because we share a similar physique.

Yeah, he should probably have found a tailor that made his jackets severely pull at the buttoning position, side vents that flair open, and sloppy trousers. That would have helped him look like a less elegant bouncer. It's weird that he has used Steed for over 20 years, since they seem to insist on making him clothing that fits really well. I just don't get it...

I’ve seen very heavy set men in very heavy tweed and flannel. And they still look very elegant despite the heavy cloth.

I think this has more to do with the cut of the coat. That particular cut is not for Vox. Nothing against the tailoring which is otherwise impeccable..

You’ve jumped on me for the very wrong reasons. The tailoring of the garment and taste of the gentleman aren’t in any doubt. But that cut is not for Vox.
