Those look fantastic! But I'd swap in lighter laces that match the welt. If it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing I always say.

As a welt-matching example to help visualize, here are my trunk show Macneils from 2022—and these are just burg shell. With UV they'd be phenomenal I think.

Love seeing the Trunk Show stuff coming in. The UV and Denim shell are both really great.

Back in the OG, brown CXL version of the Higgins Mill. Probably have over 300 wears of these mofos. They're wrinkled from losing the CXL lottery and dinged up from life in general and the tongue on the left boot always seems to slide over and the heels are probably getting to the point where I need to have them replaced and they're overdue for some conditioning, but they're still my favorite pair of AE footwear, ever.

Just some shots of my fifth avenues in merlot. These got me through a lot including getting married. I try to mix some black wax with burgundy and alternate it for the burnished look. These are from the shoe bank and are some of the best 200 dollars I’ve spent
I've got Fairfaxs and Hopkinsons in Merlot. Merlot is easily one of my favorite colors AE has done. It's a special color AND it pairs easily.

The pants are the reveal in this photo. Picked up these for less than $100.

I have PA's in Merlot and I absolutely love them as well. They are my go-to shoe for nearly any occasion. Oxblood is just not the same. I wish AE would offer Merlot again.
One of my first pairs was Strands in Merlot. Bought a pair of McAllisters at the same time in Walnut and went back and forth on which pair should be what color. I love the Strands. Merlot looks good with almost everything. Wish I'd gotten the McAllisters in a dark brown because I rarely wear them as Walnut is almost always not the right choice.

I love Merlot and wish we had more dark red options. Oxblood is just too light IMO.

Now walnut I'm a fan of.

I have a few others too, like the Dalton.

If AE still had a MTO program I’d certainly order Merlot Strands and maybe a loafer or boot as well. I know we’ll never see their internal sales numbers but I wonder what generated the switch to Oxblood a few years ago.
