Suits - Does a Light Blue Shirt match a Black Suit?

Hello all,

I have a question regarding the colour matching *************** suit and light blue dress shirt.

I am unfortunately a broke college student and, while I wish I could buy 5 suits (from navy to charcoal to all my favorite pinstripes), I had to settle for one "do-it-all" suit -- a standard black. I know, this is not ideal, and although I wish I could replicate Harvey Specter's style I have to make do and try to pull off good style with a solid black suit.

I am wondering whether a light blue dress shirt matches a black suit? I am trying to add some variety instead of the standard black suit with white shirt.

Thanks for any input.

Stefan

Hi StefanS96,
A light blue shirt with black suit can be a fine look if you have a tie that can bring the two together. Try something dark for the tie.
Don't limit your shirt and tie combos to just white and blue though. A black suit is neutral so you can do a wide variety of colors and patterns.

Should have gone for navy suit as the standard - unless you are in the SS or you plan to attend a lot of funerals (or both).
