Hey,
I'm a newbie here, but have been lurking for a little bit. I have been gaining quite a bit of info from everybody.
Thanks.

My question is on suit sizing. My problem is that I am pretty big in the shoulders and chest but I have recently lost alot of weight, especially in the waist. I am by know means athletic, but I am right between a 48-50R and 34-36waist. When looking at suits on ebay(which I am all for saving money) the pants are 42-44waist for the jackets my size.
How far can pants be altered?
Or do I just save my pennies till I can have something made?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thats what I was wondering. If it was an alteration or a disassembly.

If I was you I would also be concerned about the fit of the jacket. Do you like to have a suppressed waist? If so, you may be looking at a lot of tailoring and the savings from ebay may be eaten up with the risk of the suit still not fitting correctly. You may be better off to look for MTM.

I just got a quote from a local guy. He said around $80. That is dependent on seeing the pants on. That doesn't seem too outragous to me.
