Not necessarily an annoying commuter profile, but:
The I-got-on-a-crowded-train-with-no-seats-but-now-there-are-plenty-of-seats-available-I-am-still-going-to-stand-up Commuter:
It's some sort of cognitive dissonance/pride thing, but I'm guilty of doing this all the time. I'll get on a crowded train and there's always the one stop where 75% of the people on the train get off, leaving a plethora of seats and space. My stop is after the Mass Exodus stop so I still stand up, but I'll look around and see several other commuters hanging onto the poles even though there are several open seats in front of them. I never understood why people don't take these seats, cause the people who get on after the train has emptied take them with no qualms whatsoever.
It's a really interesting phenomenon.

This to me is a sign of superior intellect. I NEVER sit down on the train. Even if I am the only one on it I will never sit down. First of all, I hate being rumpled, second I don't feel like taking my suit to the cleaners with gum and ***** all over it.

2.) Men who do not offer their spots to women/the elderly/children on crowded trains. You are a man. Act like it.

These people make me sick. I mean, pregnant woman and old people are equally disgusting and shouldn't be out in public, however come on, just come on.

I am absolutely a Delta Crasher.

It saddens me to hear this. :(

At least you don't have the pet-owners, or at least haven't listed them. I've yet to be on a subway in Paris this semester without someone taking their dog. Extra points to the ladies on the metro who let their miniature-whatever ride along, so I have one more object taking up space that I have to watch out for.

My experience shows that animals are more respectful than people on public transportation. It's the owners that need the beatings.

thread useless without pictures of no. 17...

It is true, this past summer I get on the train and standing there looking at me is this 7 foot tall, long blonde wavy hair, blue-eyed, yet tan chick. Shorts couldn't have been shorter, cowboy boots, loose tee shirt. The weight in the air was absurd in that train, you could cut it with a knife. Everybody keep stealing glances at her; the men, the women, the animals. She finally got off the train, and there was this simultaneous sigh of relief by the passengers. They could now go about their normal business. All of the guy's guts pushed back out, boners went down, and women stopped weeping. It ruined my day. The ******* nerve of this woman.

And I don't even prefer blondes.

i'm pretty sure the 1 is comprised only of incher-uppers, backpackers, and pole dancers. worst damn line in the city. can i also add

the gatekeeper: a close cousin of the incher upper, this person grabs onto one of the corner poles near the doors and stretches his or her grabbing arm out all the way, moving their body usually parallel to the doors. this traps at least one person directly next to a door and takes up an extra person's worth of space (outstretched arm + person). not cool. usually done by backpackers or similarly unaware types.

I've yet to recieve warm sandwiches from grateful women on the train so I'll get up when I feel like it. Also cute are the [not pregnant or elderly] women that give you the evil eye when you dare get up for them.

What is this, 1949?

The elderly . . . Maybe, if they look faint or I am related to them.

Women . . . Your back hurts because either you're wearing 4 inch heels on the subway or you weigh 200+ lbs and I am supposed to feel sorry for you? No.

Children . . . Kids have endless energy. They can stand for 10 minutes.

Guilty. My reasoning is that I'm getting off at the next stop anyway, and there might be someone who's going a little further.

Anyone ever wonder why people pick a particular seat, its sometimes comical to watch there is literally no rationale whatsoever, I feel like calling out "the air on the other side of the train car is not any better than this side, bud"
I too am a delta crasher but only if im going to be late though
Biggest pet peeve is the DJs and their inbred cousins which you pointed out, usually tend to be black or latino from my end, usually women of that ilk. You get the occasional wannabe rapper which is even worse.

Beijing Subway playing fuckin' Mantovani on the trains. That's surely going to encourage the DJs and the Karaokes.

Why should I give up my seat for women and children? I'm pretty sure being a female or a child isn't a disease that makes it more difficult to stand.

Maybe he's been watching too many 1970s disaster movies? Women and children first.

Too cool for support- Usually have both hands texting, or busy talking to someone and they don't realize the trains gonna lurch forward causing them to lose balance and crash into the person next to them. they respond with an automatic i'm sorry like that'll help anything and the continue what they were doing.

Yeh I've seen plenty of this, along with a frequently seen variation, The iPad User. Who'll be playing games on their iPad with both hands and not holding on in case the train lurches. Often they'll be a DJ as well, with those nasty tinny white earbuds.
