Has anyone had any problems bringing one to the Open? Going tonight and was planning on bringing my brick (D2X,) but didn't wanna deal if they gave you a hassle getting in.

I think you should be fine. Just as long as your camera doesn't require removable lenses.

any decent SLR has removable lenses...If so, just have big pockets/hoodie and put the camera in it and have a friend carry lens(es) in his pocket

the general rule used by security is that any camera with a removable lens is considered a 'pro' camera. however, they seem to be rather easy going about this at tennis events, so i would go ahead and try it.

I really liked her dress last year:

Couldn't find a great pic of this year's, but I'd imagine it's equally short.

You do realize that every pro photographer.. sports or otherwise, uses an SLR of some sort, right?

They didn't used to, and there are some old professionals who can use a screw-wind camera faster than most can use an SLR. Also, if you're doing street type photography, a rangefinder is so much more superior.

an SLR by its very definition has removable lenses. thats the whole point.

as long as you don't have a huge 1000mm lens and a backup body around your neck or give them any reason to suspect you're a professional, i doubt you'll have any problems.

An SLR requires removable lenses, though to strictly enforce its definition, it's a camera with a mirror reflex system. A rangefinder also has removable lenses, but its focusing and shutter is very different from the SLR.

there aren't any pro photographers (aside from some people who do stills with 35mm and film) who use anything but SLRs...look in the press pit at a concert, sidelines at a sports event, red carpet, etc. everyone's got SLRs, there's really no way to use anything else and hope to get quick high res digital photos
