Wouldn't be surprised at all. Paris fashion week starts tomorrow, right? Maybe FW25 is their final season.
Unclear if the rumor refers to Nepenthes, the retail store, or the entire company.

I'm glad EG exists as an independent designer, but I've largely moved on from the wilder styles/fabrics now that I"m in my mid 50s, ahem...and the prices of the outerwear have far outstripped my budget. If only I was an XS or XL; you can score almost anything on big discount.

Although I did just buy another boring olive green Bedford.

Sizing question for the experts:
There are a couple of second hand Andover jackets for sale online, tag size XL, which the listing says have pit-to-pit measurement of 54cm (21.2 inches). Can that really be right? It seems very narrow for something tagged XL. Were EG jackets much slimmer fitting in past seasons?

Yes, slim fit era was pre-2015ish or so. Also, the Andover jacket in general is not as room-y as the bedfords or loiter jackets.

Any insight into this rumor or any insight that you can share @Drinkwaters ?
Well, the reality is, that there's this awakening time in our lives that we need to step back and make good on our promises and intensions to ourselves and others. Daiki has realized that time. However, not to abandon what he's so deliberately set a course for in it's next iteration. As some here have experienced, there have been a noticeable few over the two and half decades of this collection. We all survived and we have all looked forward to the next inspiration. Yes, Daiki moves on to "Passion Projects" in the Nepenthes family but hands the torch to others who've been behind the scene and have made their mark. His mentoring will bear the fruits of his desires for the evolution but as any house of fashion experiences, there will be a talent of freshness and individual thoughtfulness to its being. An official notice will be henceforth and yes, what was circulated was disinformation at its finest.

I wonder if Angelo Urrutia would come back. Browsing his Instagram, I think 4S Designs did a F/W24 preview but nothing since, so the brand might be shuttered?

No, the unlikelihood of Angelo returning is a closed chapter. The reason we haven’t seen any activity on 4S Designs is that Angelo was forced to re-organize the brand because of the falling out with his business partner. I think we’ll see a big comeback soon!

I'd be very excited to see a rejuvenation/next chapter in EG.

There aren't a lot of brands (YY comes to mind) that have stayed true to a single, relatively narrow aesthetic for decades. Sure, there's a general through-line for fashion houses like Chanel etc, but EG has hewn to a very small set of patterns and cuts -- though, of course, the fabrics change from season to season, and fits have gone from more conventional to looser. But I can dig deep into my closet and find some pre 2010 EG (worn out, in some cases moth-holed) that's pretty much the same as 2024 EG.

But maybe Daiki stepping back from the EG mainline won't actually mean anything. I have no idea how much he's still hands-on vs being more of a director.

I got a sneak peek of the lookbook. I wouldn't have made that comparison, at least no more than usual. It has a loose music theme and there's arm bands—the only things that I can think of that stand out as having a more distinct AïE vibe
Haven’t seen it but I heard EG AW25 has a strong AïE vibe.
Oh maybe you're hinting at something here

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
