Should I return new shirts with raised collars?

Yesterday I bought some Gieves and Hawkes RTW shirts without trying them on, as I know my size and knew what I wanted. Later that night, however, I noticed that when I fasten all of the buttons the collar points do not touch the shirt, but instead they are raised. Is this something that will go away with dry cleaning? Or are the collars attached wrong and I should go back and exchange the shirts? I can take pictures if necessary.

Press the collar band a little in the front, near the button point. It's one minute of ironing.

That should make the points lie flat.

Why not try it? Easier than going back to the store.

I ironed the collar, it's staying down now!

Another question:

If I take my shirts to the dry cleaners what should I do with the collar stays? Just take them out and replace them when the shirts are returned cleaned/ironed?

Remove the stays before dropping the shirts off at the cleaners. Most likely, the cleaners will insert cheap, flimsy, plastic stays in the shirts after laundering them. Feel free to discard these stays upon picking up the shirts, and re-insert the originals.

Yes. In fact, I leave all my shirts without the collar stays and put them on only when I'm heading out.

They're machine washable, but I just can't iron the sleeve properly, especially near the wrists where they're pleated.
