I currently don't own a pair of black leather shoes. I am considering these Alden 1655's. I should be able to wear these with both jeans and a suit, correct? Anyone see any reason why I shouldn't get these?

Personally prefer brown monks. Black can feel pilgrim-y.
Thanks. Any recommendation for a must-have style of black shoes?
Also, do you think with the "color 8" (attached) I can get away with grey dress pants and a black sweater?

Slightly unrelated, but I don't want to create a new thread just for that: Should I buy shoes from this seller? http://markmcnairy-uk.com/shop/category/mens
The website looks (very) suspicious, but it is so high up on the google search it got me confused for a moment, thought it might be just another questionable style decision.
Looks okay. The Sanders & Sanders address is legit.
Are you quite sure? The prices are lower than on the American site, and the terms and conditions (and smilies) look too strange even for a hipster website...
Pretty sure - this is the genuine Sanders and Sanders store for comparison: http://www.sanders-uk.com
Personally I'd order the straight Sanders and Sanders lines anyway. At best Mark McNairy is an attention seeking idiot.
A black oxford can be useful, but it's a bit formal. I rarely wear mine cause I rarely wear very formal suits.
The black shoes I have tend to be very casual. Heschung Panax boot, Margiela side zips, JM Weston penny loafers, etc. I like and wear those, but it kind of depends on your wardrobe. The black shoes I would wear with a suit aren't things I'd personally wear casually.
Color 8 monk strap with gray dress pants and a black sweater sounds good though. I guess black in that case would also work (maybe even a bit better).
