I'm visiting Rome, Florence, and Venice in January for a few days each, and seeking recommendations for high-quality local shops to support to buy items that would be difficult or impossible to find in the States.

I'm primarily interested in shopping for a range of accessories: hats, scarves, ties, pocket squares, maybe even Venetian slippers. Also, any other non-clothing accessories, such as cologne, stationery, leather goods, fountain pens, and toiletries.

I have a few of their fragrances, it would be fun to visit the shop, which I missed out on when I was there.

If you want to visit a local-local place.
Bazooka is a father/son run atelier.
It's in Monti a few blocks from the Coliseum. Easy to find online.
I had a blast in there.

Mentioned before, but Battistoni in Rome is great for accessories. Also, the Brioni flagship is in Rome, and may be worth a visit.

Rome has:
Wools near Piazza Navona
an E Marinella shop on the same street as Davide Cenci and one of the Borsalino shops. Might be a Slowear boutique on the street as well
Cruciani e Bella for ties, squares, suspenders.
Caleffi is near the Pantheon - a shirtmaker, but they have ties, some knitwear, some cologne, etc.

olfattivo laboratorio comes recommended in Rome. Really great scents for low prices. I wear Alambar; it is the perfect winter scent imo.

For cologne in Florence, I highly recommend Santa Maria Novella. Very cool store, great variety and prices not too bad.

Tie Your Tie is also in Florence. They have a small boutique near the Arno. I walked past it several times before I finally found it.

I bought some shirts from Simone Abbarchi, who I also recommend if you are in the market for shirts.

If you walk around the main shopping district of Florence you will see hundreds of small boutiques with accessories from fountain pens to ties and especially leather goods. Sorry, I don't have any specific recommendations to offer.

With the extra bonus of a chance at a Hannibal Lecter sighting!

(& I 2nd the recommendation for Simone Abbarchi)

I second Battistoni in Rome. One of the most beautiful men's shops
I've ever visited. Worth looking even if you have no intention of buying.

Florence - Bernardo is a wonderful, small menswear shop that sells quality Made in Italy clothing and accessories but not the overpriced major international fashion brands so you get excellent value. Perfect for scarves, pocket squares, etc.

Also, Tie Your Tie in Florence. And, yes they have more than ties. Beautiful quality.
