It is hard to call and both are excellent. Some of the soles on my 2nd generation G&Gs (I think we are now 3rd or poss. 4th gen) look sloppy compared to their most recent brothers or to the AS HG line.

The AS are really very impressive and appear every bit as good as the current crop of G&G's. I'd say G&G still has the contemporary edge when it comes to their lasts and proportions. I'll let you decide whether that is positive or negative as it is clearly a matter of personal preference.

I always liked G&G's finishing with the fancy soles etc. but preferred EG's classic proportions (think lower facing and shorter toe caps). It would appear AS is arguably the best of both worlds.

Thank you, it's my 3rd pair with Riccardo Bestetti. I have a pair on the way now that will be a bit more classic.

Yes those are initials, actually just the initial of my first name. 'R'

Sure, i'll take some pictures when I get home. Riccardo also sent me some pictures of how he's putting the wooden pegs into place and the colouring. Is this the right topic to post those pictures or is this for finished shoes only?

His website is very outdated. He has some fantastic new designs. Some are a bit more 'flashy', others are very classic. In about a month or so my new shoes by Riccardo are coming in. They're very different in appearance. You'd probably even think it was a different shoemaker
