I am considering selling a suit here. I'll be copletely honest, I've never shipped a suit. What is the acceptable method for doing so?

Folded up? With the jacket, at the waist?

Nope. Just in one of those plastic bags from the dry cleaners and in the box it went. I give themn the benefit of the doubt that it was folded neatly and all and it shifted during the travel time.

I would think something like wrapped in a sealed plastic bag inside a box with some peanuts or bubble paper for buffer.

i try to take care as much as possible. for suits/jackets i fold them lengthwise and then gently horizontally and then place into a large plastic bag and then placed into a nicely sized box (like a dell laptop box or something that has enough room for it to have a bit of buffer inside with some bubble)
for international, depending on weight and rates, i would have to succumb to using their one rate box which is very small but still usable.

i have had a jacket (and a pair of pants , expensive delicate fabric) just carelessly packed into a single thin sleeve and shipped.

how is that supposed to protect at least minimally? basically think of it as: take your jacket, lay it on the floor, place a piece of paper over it , and then start stepping on it, and throw books on top of it and shuffle your feet on top of your jacket.

how does that protect your jacket? unacceptable.

always pack in a box for items like that.

I use the USPS large flat rate box, it costs around $10 in the US plus insurance and tracking. There is plenty of info about packing and shipping here but the prices are not up to date.
