i need to stop buy too much, wearing a few time then discarding it, also start moving to more classically style and getting out extreme fashion styled clothes, and develop 1 local and 1 overseas bespoke shoe and tailor!

One or two blue suits.
Brown full brogues.

I also like mack11211's resolution about ditching stuff that doesn't fit.

Purchase a 100% cashmere sweater sometime this year (hopefully this season).

I have never owned one but am currently considering a burgundy Alan Flusser for $80 at Stein Mart as well as a navy blue Stafford for $50 at JCPenney.

I am trying to decide whether to take the leap or hold out for a Ralph Lauren.

I'd stay away from the Flusser (licensed). The Stafford is probably not that good, but at the price you can't really complain. You can probably get a Polo/made in China for under $80 on ebay. Stick to a reputable seller and you're golden.

My sartorial resolution is to spend less. I bought an awful lot of clothes in 2006. Even though everything was on sale, some screaming bargains, it adds up to a lot of dough! I could have easily done without a few sweaters, a few socks, a few ties.

Good thread.

My plan is to actually stay away from the allure of bargin items which more often than not I wouldn't purchase at full retail and focus on staple timeless items, paying up for them if necessary.

These would include simple blue and white shirtings from a top-notch shirt maker (Charvet, Borrelli, Finamore). A few workhorse bespoke suits, specifically a gray DB and two navy SB (A&S, Rubinacci, Despos). And possibly a couple of nice MTM sportcoats and trousers (St. Andrews, Isaia, Borrelli) Several pairs of tasteful shoes (JL, EG, Corthay, Berluti, Scafora). And hopefully an IWC.

It's tough to say, because on the one hand I need to reign in my clothes spending in order to pay for other things, like a ski trip I'll be taking with a couple of friends in March. On the other hand, I feel like I've just begun expanding, upgrading, and refining my wardrobe, and it's easier to find holes in it than to find areas I have completely covered. And since I'm young, I'd like to maintain a harmonic balance between businesswear and streetwear, between day and evening attire, etc. And although currently I'm on a fairly tight budget, my finances will probably be better several months from now. So with those caveats, some goals: Two new MTM suits (one light gray, one charcoal; both tropical worsted) Three MTM dress shirts (white patterned, light pink, pale yellow herringbone; first and third will be French cuff) Two more merino wool sweaters (navy and something else, possibly caramel) Two new pairs of quality slim-fit jeans (nothing astronomically-priced, but enough to last, to look good, and to stand out from the pack) Three bespoke Sam Hober ties Two more bespoke Sam Hober pocket squares One quality short-sleeved polo (preferably Sunspel; if not, then Lacoste retro-fit) One pair of decent black calf balmorals Egyptian cotton dress socks or comparable alternative Merkur Futur shaving set in polished chrome Possibly a full bottle of either L'Artisan Parfumeur's Fou d'Absinthe or Parfum d'Empire's Ambre Russe or Cuir Ottoman. And last but not least, possibly more bespoke lingerie for my petite lady friend.

Agreed -- I should have clarified that I want to phase them out of my work rotation, but certainly keep them around for more casual wear.
