what's up guys. a little slporn + review, SS16 L17. last several L17 releases have been pretty mediocre, because of dull, flat, dry lambskin. SS16 L17 is redone in a new leather, polished/waxed lambskin, (much) juicier, thicker, shinier, better in every way. it almost looks like it has a coating from some angles. OG calf L17 in back for a few of the comparison shots. not sure if you can see the leather quality in my crap pics, but it's pretty spectacular.

apparently they discontinued the L17, but it was brought back because hedi, then redone in a much better (and specific) leather. much different than the veiny crumply "vintage" leather used in the various seasonal SS16 jackets.

my review, it's awesome. probably my fav leather in quite a while.

Got a pair of double zip Rangers. Got them in 40 and I'm a 41 in CPs and 42 in MM GATs. They run pretty big.

neonrider- the L17 looks GREAT! does the heavier leather make it more difficult to wear in any way? or i guess what im asking is do you think the thickness of the jacket would cause you to wear it less in certain weather/temperatures?

Who's going to take the plunge and get one of the teddy jackets? I went out tonight and bought two of the flannels this season from the store on 5th ave. One is a boring grey white blue and red thing - Mr Porter has it with a raw hem, mine is not distressed. Fit is great, and it allows me to go for the boring jeans, leather and flannel look. But I also got the blue/green bleached flannel, can't wait to rock it in summer.


Surprised no one is jumping on the SS16 look in here.

nobody was buying it (i.e. retailers). i think most buys tend to be pretty terrible, this is a good example why.

track, the L!7's usually a mid weight jacket for me, i don't wear it in the height of east coast summer, but good for spring/autumn/summer in cooler places.

the code is the same but Y5YC1 not Y5KC1. if yours is from mr p, it's almost definitely fw15. i'd strongly rec getting the ss16 one instead, it's really hard to track down tho since (to return to the beginning) almost no one bought it. lol.

as for teddy jackets, i really don't like having tons of stuff i just wear a few times, anymore, i just want a few pieces i wear all the time. i grabbed one of the shearling jackets for winter and i've been basically living in it...that kind of thing.

also i don't really get hedi's fixation with the "baby" art.

I know the girl who did that "piece", brought a bunch of her friends to the SLP store and we all laughed over how it's plastered on every goddamn thing.

^ that's funny, was her opinion that it's use was completely out of context or just so commercially reproduced? It's always a slippery slope. I think Hedi's best overt uses of other's art in his designs thus far were in SS15 with the field jacket and the Bruce Conner March 2 1978 denim jacket. I own the denim jacket, it's an amazing thing, one of my favorite fitting and looking of Hedi's collab designs.

lol i heard that they saw the stuff randomly on Facebook and called her up? who knows. but definitely the older collabs were a little more interesting, less literal and more subtle. like i get the idea of celebrating youth but baby and yeah baby are a little obvious. no disrespect to the artist.

That l17 is amazing. Congrats on the pick up. Do you know if the sizing is the same as the L01? For example, if someone has a size 46 in both the L01 and L17, with the shoulder and sleeves measure the same? Also, is this new one still a lighter weight than the original calf? Thanks in advance.

Amazing jacket(s), Neon - my favorite SLP leather. Tried on the SS16 version this weekend also, glad it has returned. Happy to see you posting photos again, your collection is pretty impressive.

Got this in last week. I added calfskin lace to the back grommets which I like, but I may opt for a suede like the L17. I love the sturdiness of the calfskin, especially after wearing my lambskin L01 just about daily for the past couple years. Thanks again for your detailed review, Slann.
