I misread your message and thought you'd bought a balmacaan made with Herdwick cloth and began questioning the meaning of my existence.

Then I read the message properly and breathed a sigh of relief.

And THEN I thought about our balmacaan made with Herdwick tweed, and indeed all or any of our other coat styles which could in future be made with the cloth. Maybe next year we can all have a debate / vote about which one to make.

It may be postulated that an acquisition of one peacoat inherently corresponds to a depletion of one peacoat from an extant set — that is to say, my set — thereby resulting in a preservation of the equilibrium pertaining to the global inventory of peacoats.

Would it also not allow you to stock up on new peacoats, thereby contributing to more in the overall supply? The individual buyer does have some responsibility in curtailing the influence of the peacoat cartels in our society.

Not soon, but they are coming. We're using a speckled yarn (similar to that used for the balmacaans and topcoats this year) so they'll look a little different this time around.

I doubt it ever will, sadly, as we made so few of them.

The few that we did make have gone to the gents on the waiting list, going back to the spring, and it means the only reason to put the dark version online now is for posterity in the sense of "look what we made".

The field shirt has undergone a few design changes and will reappear in the spring, and the flight jacket has had a more substantial facelift and might emerge later next year (no plans as yet).
