How are they not as flattering? I realize that they are less English, but what makes them worse?

If you saw the true Neopolitan custom double reverse pleat pants that I saw yesterday

I have seen the best ones. They still don't look as good to me -- don't produce as nice a line.

The first two suits I ever bought, which I'm now trying to rid of, were cut kind of big and loose, one being from Men's Wearhouse (the least big of the two). So I had my tailor take out the pleats for $65 a pop. I got the suits for a little bit of a discount so I didn't really mind paying the $65. The tailor did a nice job and I liked the suit much more as a result, however, the shoulders were just too wide and kind of looked dumb to me after a while.

Sadly enough, I was talked into the Perma-Press nonsense at MW where they GLUE your pant crease together basically. It makes a nice crisp line for sure but so silly at the same time. Anyways, my tailor started swearing when he saw it. He managed to take out the double pleats despite this obstacle.

I'd recommend sneaking into a supermarket's parking lot and using their dumpster. Wouldn't want such a thing going out in my own trash! What would the neighbors think!!

Removing the pleats wouldn't be my first choice, but if it is something you really want to do, it can be done. However, I would not do it if your tailor hessitates to do it. It is a cumbersome operation and does require essentially recutting the entire trouser. Find a tailor you can trust that is confident he or she can do the job. I have seen this done dozens of times and the only problem I have ever seen is that the seat comes back too tight. In these cases, this was because a fitter simply gave instructions to the tailor to "remove pleats" without taking waist, seat, and thigh measurements. Have the actual tailor take measurements and mark the trousers.

Best of luck!

I don't recommend removing the pleats either. My own personal tastes aside, I think you should wear it with pride as it is. You have a very nicely made suit, and I don't think people will give you **** for sporting pleats.

Particularly since the anti-pleat tide has crested and is beginning to recede.

Yeah. See, I used to be of the mindset that pleats could never be worn by younger men... then I saw pleats that were done correctly. A lot of younger guys here pull them off, too. It's just a matter of preference; I personally prefer none for odd trousers. Were I to get a suit with pleats, it would be a single forward pleat. I know tailors recommend double, but I prefer the single line it creates on each leg.

I am confused about much here. One it seems that some support doing what others may find they would want and the pants are yours. You should do what you want. Any tailor worth their beans can do this project with no problems. My tailor ( when I used her over the years and not recently) has rebuilt entire suits for me literally and revamped an entire prom gown for my daughter once and took it down several sizes. We did not have any clothing stores to speak of locally and tried to support the ones we did have and she just could do anything with anything or build a full outfit from a fabcric of your choosing . Any less talilor is not much of a tailor and just an amatuer and a mock up.

Two you showed the jacket which is to die for and I love but not the slacks and I am a pleat fan.

Can you please show the pants ?

I am not so fashion conscience and do not know the current trends as they never affected my wardrobe as I purchase and wear what I like and it rarely changes.

Please show the pants.
