In the Dry Cleaning horror thread someone mentioned the idea of a recommended cleaners thread. I absolutely agree. Personally, I am looking for recommendations in Boston or the metrowest suburbs.

In Philadelphia, Gem Cleaners is fantastic. The shop is at 546 W Carpenter Ln (in Mt Airy) and they do pick-up/delivery (215 848 6190). It's expensive but really worth it. Everything is done with the utmost care and attention. Tom also does business via FedEx.

I recommend the ``Golden Touch'' on Mass. Avenue. They are slightly pricey but the service is excellent. They even hand-press shirts for around $5. They are much better than anybody else I have tried in the Boston/Cambridge area. I hope this will help.

Outside of Philadelphia in Bucks County is Carriage Trade.

1108 Bustleton Pike
Feasterville Trevose, PA 19053-4130
Phone: (215)357-3400

They offer "hand wash" dry cleaning, one garment at a time and it includes pick up and drop off. They pride themselves on offering the best laundry and dry cleaning service in the area.

The way I get recommendations for dry cleaners in other cities is to call the local Saks/Bergdorf/NM/ or their local equivalent and ask which cleaners they use.

           They do hand pressing
Do they hand press shirts also, or only suits?

Does anyone have more recent recommendations for a dry cleaner in Philadelphia - ideally Center City?

I am looking to have a decent lot of suits cleaned following the fall season and would like a good quality cleaner (I had previously used Parkway in DC).

Thanks for advice from Philadelphians!
